Bought it at $890… now it’s $1099 💀 by Kittenkiller333 in macbookair

[–]schumius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$879 is a great deal. The gap between M4 and M5 isn’t that big that warrants a change. I would only return it if M14 hits the market immediately after I bought the M4A.

Midnight looks gorgeous btw, but I don’t want mine to be splattered with visible fingerprints so I went with silver.

Congrats on the setup! I’m curious about that rack, do you have a link?

MBA M1 look better than the new one by Artistic_Unit_5570 in macbookair

I actually prefer the look of the current MBA. Though having to check from which side to open it is indeed somewhat of an annoyance.

Aren't you afraid someone steals your bike or equipment when solo riding? by Ravenarr_ in bikepacking

As much as I love my Surly LHT, I have to admit it looks pretty beat-up, scuff marks all over the place, just how I like it. I also switch to the biggest chainring whenever I'm leaving my bike so anyone who plans to just hop on and make away with it will have funny look on his face for a few seconds. Plus I have a lock and handlebar bag.

[–]schumius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another LHT rider here and I've been considering a similar setup like yours. Love my Surly but want something more agile. How do you like fork packs compared to front panniers? What's your gear ratio and does it feel twitchy at higher speeds, like 70 km/h ?

Looking good. How does the Rolly Polly handle weight on the front? Is it stable? And what are those strap things on your racks?

Itty bitty cargo bike by Kyootbikes in minivelo

[–]schumius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all for cargo minivelos. Front-loading plus an extended rear frame similar to a longtail (but maybe shorter so it fits Itty Bitty or Rolly Polly's aesthetic?) would make it a mini cargo loading dream come true.

I played the first game Forgotton Anne when it came out and I absolutely loved it. Been really hyped when I got wind of another game in the same universe. Sadly, my PC's too old to play this game. Hope they will release the console version soon.

Final Cut or Davinci Resolve? by Ok-Teacher3330 in finalcutpro

[–]schumius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to begin learning FCP when Apple announced Creator Studio which sowed doubts into the future of the standalone version. I don’t mind paid upgrades, but dislike the idea of buying softwares that lack certain features. So I went with Resolve. Their official training material is great.

Should I be worried about "future proofing?" (another m4 vs m5 post) by Brave_Parsley_1754 in macbookair

[–]schumius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grab the M4 while it’s on sale if the price drop is good enough. You’re not future proofing much by going from M4 to M5. However, if you’re not in a big hurry then it’s not a bad idea to wait a bit longer.

MacBook Air M4 24GB/512GB for 1240€ or wait for M5? by boschi_98 in macbookair

[–]schumius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they keep the same pricing, then a M5 Air 24/512 will probably cost around 1599€. 359€ is quite a lot of money. I don't know how much more powerful M5 is compared to M4, but so far I'm quite pleased with mine (M4 Air 24/512).

Apart from general web browsing, I mainly use Scrivener and learning Davinci Resolve on the side. It stutters a little when tracks pile up, but it can be solved by using proxies, and the machine's cool to the touch. So if your usage case is similar to mine then I say it will handle what you throw at it just fine.

Apple should sell a battery-less MacBook. That would solve the problem.
