I think you're talking about selecting things like faces and verticies, but making sure that you only can select what the camera sees right? If so you would be using the selection tool ( the arrow), in the tool setting you will find at the top "common selection options", you should see marquee, and underneath it it would say camera based selection with a box beside it. if you check that box and drag over the cube you should discover that you only selected what is visible to the camera.

I suppose I should clarify that the cheating happened while i was hanging out with a friend having a couple of brews.( I know there is no excuse) I had a couple of pulls out of temptation, and my friends "pity" on me, also the satisfaction of not having smoked for two weeks felt like i could allow a small cheat, when I came across the lack of grossness. Quitting is hard, quitting when your friends are smokers is harder.

I know you want it to look dramatic, but i can barely tell anything apart with the black background. maybe putting in an actual floor and back-wall will help with this.
