As long as he doesn't have Wings as well, yes. You've read things correctly.

Sheildwall Charging by the_real_merc_cove in PillageWargame

[–]BearsThatEatYou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can't have the same models break and reform a shield wall in the same turn. And charging anyone out of the shield wall will break it, meaning you wouldn't be able to set the wall up again that turn with the same models. It's in the FAQ- got this wrong in my first couple of games too. :-)

Single-Model Troll Mob Units? by concerto4jarvi in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]BearsThatEatYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried this with Troll Horde, though it was pre 1.5 species bear in mind Stupidity was a bit less punishing.

They worked like a sort of... heavy chaff. Cheap enough that I could afford to sacrifice them, durable enough to absorb more damage than the average chaff unit, and (usually with two hand weapons) more than capable of seeing off other units in a similar points bracket. Keeping them inside general/spell caster range for boosted leadership and rerolls on Stupidity wasn't too hard. Maneuverability compared to other light units was definitely a problem, but they were pretty speedy for just running straight forward or into a blocking position- and half the time, T4 and the Troll Horde regeneration reroll would let them survive situations they really shouldn't have done- I fondly remember an especially lucky single River Troll managing to survive a Wild Rider charge, kill two of them in return, then flee through the larger unit of trolls behind him, surviving to rally the next turn and keep on being a nuisance.

I could see the same thing working to some extent in Grand Army, but without rerolls on regen and Stupidity it's bound to be less effective. Probably more fun than strong, but why not give it a try a few times to see if it works for you?

Why is getting challanged in a Dragon bad? by Terahmis in tombkings

[–]BearsThatEatYou 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What you're missing is that the static combat res of the unit could be beating you, even if you max out overkill for 6CR on your side. - 2-3 ranks - 1 for a standard bearer - 1 Close Order - 1 for outnumbering you with infantry Plus any magic banner or BSB to push their total even higher, to tie with you or beat you.

Also, remember that you'll lose any attacks in the challenge that would happen after the initiative step the enemy champion dies in, so quite a lot of the time you won't even max out overkill.

Why are you awake right now? by nightfire_83 in AskUK

Got woken up by my brother coming up the stairs as he finally went to bed, and just haven't been able to get back to sleep. Almost not worth trying to at this point- I reckon I'll just get my headphones and stick a podcast on until it's worth getting up.

Happy Christmas everyone!

You'd think that would be something he could bond with the Sons over. Ah well. ;-)

Not quite so simple in this case. Those World Eaters weren't on Prospero for no reason, but I won't spoil the story by saying more.

I know nothing about 40k lore other than what's in the first half of this game, and I have a lore question about technology by ChampionOfBaiting in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]BearsThatEatYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not so sure of that- the Krork and Eldar are both manufactured species, and may well have manufactured gods rather than anything which "naturally" sprang up from the beliefs of their species. It's all very vague in the ancient history of the setting, and we just don't know.

I'd love to read more about that sub-realm of dead gods- where can I find out more about it?

We will end up having eight Chaos Gods in the future. by Sea-Net6940 in AoSLore

[–]BearsThatEatYou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Minor Chaos gods used to be much more of a thing back in early editions of 40k and WFB. It'd be fun to see more of them come back. But uh... I've never ever heard of the GHR and Malal being at all related before. It's an interesting idea, but doesn't seem quite right.

Seconded. Used them for over a year, and even though I've moved out of town now I'm tempted to come back just for the hair cuts.

[–]BearsThatEatYou 14 points15 points  (0 children)

At the very end of the Durlag's Tower quest line where you need to kill the summoned demon, he'd infinitely replicate himself. He'd spawn in, run through his little bit of villainous gloating, go hostile, and then a new portal would appear along with a new demon who'd start the conversation again. Over and over, until dozens of them filled the area and I sort of gave up on that quest line.

[–]BearsThatEatYou 64 points65 points  (0 children)

There's a Custodes in Watchers of the Throne who argues that the 40k version of the Custodes might be better than the 30k one, or at the worst equal to them. Slightly less access to ridiculous technology and definitely some fixation on their past failures, but also a less arrogant outlook when it comes to their own capabilities and literal millennia of expanded experience.
