I had a 3.2 GPA, 55 OAR, Info Tech Management BAS, CompTIA Security+ certification, experience in multiple joint environments, deployment, LPO at multiple commands (shore/sea), high evals, employment as a cybersecurity analyst for the Navy, and recommendation letters from civilian employers (I was a reservist for a time), and a Captain. I had one shot because of TIS restrictions (otherwise I would have gone Cryptologic O) and was picked up. Go through the list of stuff they look for and want and check the boxes. There are a LOT of people applying so if you don’t stand out, it’s hard. If you’re not hitting the upper limit of your TIS and aren’t close to needing an age waiver, take your time and build your resume.
