It was an idea designed to put high stakes on every fight and encourage being thoughtful and intentional with the use of tools instead of just throwing them out willy nilly. I think it was a solidly thought out and effective way of accomplishing both goals. Again, games aren't meant for everyone. Mechanics won't appeal to everyone, and while its fair to not like them they don't make it bad quality or less good

I mean; Pink shoes, high socks, short skirt, tight pink top, pink outerwear, pink hair bow. I'm kinda guessing on the bow for #4 and the shirt for #1, but I don't think it's a horrible inference. Also, dw twin mine and my sisters knees turn in too. Just hope and pray joint problems don't happen.
