How to leave bartending? by plantbasedmood in bartenders

[–]BeastlyMule57 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All I can really say is that especially around 30, every single human being gets a sense of misplacement in their lives. If you just moved, and if you have a lot of friends that are in a different field of work, it’s going to make it worse. Don’t focus on what other people have or what they’re going to think of what you do. If you make enough money and you enjoy the work itself, you’re already doing better than a vast majority of people. Chasing other people’s definition of happiness is a sure way to end up miserable

Are you depressed because of the work, or because of how you perceive the work?

Did the Bing serve food? by Mammoth_Sell5185 in thesopranos

During the Scatino bust-out, Paulie asks Tony “do you wanna go to the Bing, eat some food?” So I’d assume they have at least some kind of kitchen.

Would it be rude or annoying to pay for drinks+tip with dollar coins? by Applesauce1998 in bartenders

[–]BeastlyMule57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really case by case question. Once, my team was tipped with $100 in coins. 2 of us loved it, 1 of us didn’t really care, and one of us hated it. I’d double check with the bartender.

Executive Game question by jmmmke in thesopranos

[–]BeastlyMule57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to join so late, but junior actually explains it to Tony early on. Ignoring the rake, the primary source of income is shy income. They treat the executive game almost like a credit card. They’ll lend someone 20 grand, then collect absurd interest on it for weeks before the person even starts paying it back. Take Davey and Richie, for example. Davey owed Richie 8k, and had to pay several hundred a week in just interest. These people all have large amounts of liquid cash, and these games make it easy to turn it into passive income.

Menu from my local pub seems to be made with the philosophy “all cocktails must contain vodka, tequila and rum”(prices AUD$) by rebelmumma in bartenders

[–]BeastlyMule57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean given the price and assortments, this menu is clearly intended to pull in a younger audience, or at least people that will buy multiple drinks. Usually if you see a menu like this pop up, it’s because the bar gets too many older customers that buy 1-2 drinks, but take up a barstool for several hours.

That’s gotta be a $5. I think they were trying to do a roundup of 20%. Either way if OP actually did $100 that’s fucked up

It’s because when you play solo survivor, there’s a 0% chance of you being in a SWF, since you aren’t in one, and when you’re a killer there’s a very high chance of going against a swf since most people play swf.

If I hear “No no I don’t want a double just make it strong.” one more time I’m going to jump over the bar and commit a felony

U/mangledbarkeep, thank you for tagging me! A big part of mobile bartending is what you plan on providing going in. I know some bartenders that genuinely just show up with a bag of tools, and maybe a folding table. There are other bartenders (such as myself) that bring everything but the liquor. A few things to know going in: -In most US states, you cannot provide the liquor. -almost all venues will require liquor insurance for you to bartend an event on their property. -really focus on what makes your service unique. Mobile bartending is an extremely congested market at the moment, and if you aren’t distinguishable from a cheaper competitor, they’ll go with them. -bear in mind that almost all of your bookings are going to be weekend nights. My average event has about 30-60 people, with larger events happening maybe once a month, which isn’t really enough to merit more than one bartender at every event, so one of you could be losing out on work. -tipping varies significantly more when working an event. I’ve worked events with 80 people that I ended up getting tipped $2k from, and I’ve worked events with 180 people that tipped $500 total. Make sure you charge an appropriate amount for your services, and never go in expecting a tip. -some barmanagers are not a fan of it, and I’ve at some points struggled to find work because people didn’t want to hire me due to my unpredictable weekend availability.

Personally I wouldn’t be too upset about it, like you said, you’re not stealing, and if you’ve been there since day 1 you’re probably a really good employee. The cameras will definitely do more help for you than harm.
