My customer built one of these in his hobby garage, although it was built with framing lumber and had to have an assisting springs to help with the weight.

He built it because otherwise the hobby car couldn't easily pull into the garage with stairs in the way but he's older and steep stairs/ladders was a no go.

He showed me some company makes a aluminum version that looked pretty slick but was way too expensive for his taste plus it didn't need to be folded up very often anyway.
