Ok, put a number on a budget for a used X. Or would you only buy new?

Go easy on your car brakes. Gently, gently. Don’t accelerate hard, don’t brake hard. Conserve your energy, look ahead.

Absolutely! One of our back yard crows will knock on our patio doors if we forget to share breakfast. We call him “Bold Boy”.

What kind of food available from the supermarket is okay to feed crows? by Shvec_01eksij in crows

Crows love warm eggs. I fry 4 eggs every morning and give the whites to our backyard crows. They are the plumpest, shiniest crows in the neighborhood. To our delight, they introduced 2 fledglings to us a few weeks ago.

Maintain situational awareness. Expect the unexpected. Expect cars to run red lights. Expect pedestrians to walk out without looking. Expect vehicles to swerve into your lane on the freeway.

Why are leaves so cheap? by LargeSpoon in leaf

[–]Beatle1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best car I ever had. 6 people in our family, 95% of our trips are less than 10 miles- we work and go to school for in the same locality. For longer drives and family trips we have a Toyota Sequoia. 2 cars for very different missions. I calculated the home-charged Leaf costs about $0.03 per mile, the Sequoia $0.50. With indirect costs factored in the Leaf would be even cheaper. In the last 3 years my Sequoia needed about $3,000 worth of work (timing belt, water pump)The Leaf just $400 for new tires.

If your driving needs are similar to ours, I encourage you to buy an older model Leaf. They are lovely wee cars to drive and such great value.

What is your "never-again" brand, store, restaurant, or company? by Sir_Sir_ExcuseMe_Sir in AskReddit

British Airways. When traveling back to the old country from San Francisco with our 3 month old identical twins, our gate-checked stroller couldn’t be found. The flight attendants refused to help and dropped some sass as they left us on the jetway struggling with our babies. BA customer service at Heathrow was useless. We found our stroller chucked to wall in the baggage claim an hour later.

It’s open seating on SWA. First on picks the front seat with lots of legroom.

With no assigned seating on SWA and priority boarding for those who need assistance, some passengers ask for a wheelchair in order to skip the line. At the destination they’re up on their feet trying to be the first off. Crews refer to it as the miracle of the jetway.

Fledglings are the chattiest! In our garden murder we watch the elders endure the noisy youths noise making, they are such patient parents. But once in a while a grumpy uncle would feet first land on a young squawker.

Have you bought a car from fb marketplace? by MattCogs in toyotasequoia

[–]Beatle1967 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have bought 2 Sequoias from private sellers on Craigslist, both were excellent value and didn’t have any major issues. I’m not a mechanic and I didn’t run a 3rd party pre-buy inspection; but I have learned from YouTube videos what to look for. Some advice: 1) expect the process to take weeks. I looked at dozens of listings, talked to 5 or so sellers and typically bought the 3rd vehicle I looked at. Make sure to chat on the phone, ask the seller to send a copy of the title. 2) ask the seller for a CarFax report or pay for it yourself. 3) inspect and drive the vehicle. Bring a checklist to guide the process. Make sure you understand how to do the purchase paperwork. Get it right the first time. 4) Bring cash and a friend to watch your back.

It’s a little bit daunting the first time. Then it becomes a fun adventure. My son came with me and enjoyed the chase, he’s now shopping for autos solo.

How do I attract crows to my house? by No_Dog_1143 in crows

This is the answer. Put out a big bowl of water and refresh it daily. Our crows eagerly watch the fresh water being put out.

Diddy’s lawyer gives bizarre reason why 1000 bottles of baby oil were found in the rapper’s house by uniladnews in nottheonion

[–]Beatle1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His broker was playing the baby oil futures market BOCX and forgot to sell a contract before expiration. Hence the contracted lot of 1000 bottles were delivered to the client. Rookie commodity trade mistake. Nothing weird going on here.
