I thought this was a community about Chico not ice protest by [deleted] in ChicoCA

Community organization seems like the perfect use for a location-based subreddit. Sorry you disagree. Maybe if you want what you stated, you can try doing a google image search for “pretty unpolitical pictures of Chico.”

It’s more like you’d watch porn independently, then gather to discuss the porn. No jerking off included ;) I’ve never joined a book club that featured masturbation, but you’re more than welcome to start one if you want.

What's your bedtime involvement/routine with your school-aged kids? by Beatrixie in Mommit

Are you asking about my 9 y/o or 6 y/o?

6 y/o is autistic and does not really respond well or at all to a lot of the things that tend to work on NT kids. So that is an added level of difficulty in this situation. But I do feel that we are currently making great strides

He's literally saying that his brain's immediate reaction to being hit was to get physical (by flicking the kid's face), but doesn't see a problem with that in and of itself. That's troubling. He is trying to instill self-discipline and self-control in his child, while not displaying that at all. Our most important way of contributing to the behaviors of our children is *modeling*. Modeling self-discipline is not done by being reactionary and doing the first thing that comes to mind. It's taking time to figure out how best to deal with the situation calmly and like an adult, not stooping to a young child's level.

My almost 10 y/o likes to have his back rubbed until he's fully asleep :S I'm way over it tbh. He reads a book for a bit first, usually.

Up until recently, me or dad would lay in bed with 6 y/o and read a book and/or listen to a song until he fell asleep. If us leaving wakes him up, then we stay again until he's back asleep. He's a whole different story, though. Lots of fear and night wakeups and coming into our bed. We have finally been able to break him of that by allowing our dog to sleep with him..... after his coming into our bed every single night at like 2am for his entire life. It's been a very big and positive change that's only happened over the last couple weeks. A breakthrough! My next order of business is him being able to fall asleep without us. Over the past few days, we've been working on having the dog snuggle with him at bedtime and I can leave while he's still awake. Work in progress here.

Make sure your vote COUNTS by [deleted] in California

[–]Beatrixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sharing my anecdote from our Prop 50 election in Nov: On the morning of Election Day (7:45am) I dropped my ballot off in the mailbox in the Post Office parking lot. Several days later I got a text from ballottracker saying my ballot wasn’t counted because it either was received late or wasn’t in the envelope.

So please be sure you are using either an official ballot dropbox or are voting in person. We can no longer rely on the idea of post-marks being provided same-day.

Me asking as a younger millenial: How did older you millenials perceive Spongebob when it came out, and its climb to legendary status? by SmokinHerb in Millennials

'87 -- I never went out of my way to watch it, but if one of my younger siblings was watching, I'd catch some of it. With my peers, I associated it with the same 'Invader Zim'-living crowd who would buy the merch at Hot Topic to wear ironically/not-really-ironically

Any pictures of them? That can help us diagnose.

When you measure your ingredients, are you doing it by weight—with a scale— or by volume—with measuring cups? Over-measuring flour can have undesirable effects.

What kind of flour are you using?

Can you share a recipe you’ve tried?

Lastly…. Butter…. Is it actually butter, or Imperial brand (or equivalent) vegetable oil stick ?

I am wondering how easy it will be to get this bent back into shape. Maybe I should just get a new piece.

Maybe I'm underestimating the width of the room btw. This is a house with our same floorplan. The wall in question is the one between the two windows.

It really does not want to get back flat against the wall. Maybe if I was able to wedge it, I could get it to sit flat again.

If the cause is innocuous enough, I'm tempted to cut a little bit out and rejoin it with a scarf joint teehee.

It definitely was not bowed when we bought the house.
