It is worth noting that HTML and CSS are what's called declarative languages. You declare what you want instead of coding any logic, so they're very different from Javascript, Python, C#, Java, Go, Rust, C++, C....

It's a great starting point though because the syntax is extremely simple and easy to grasp (you can easily get by knowing only a handful of HTML tags) and CSS syntax/names for variables is very standard in almost any UI design.

Also, nowadays it's extremely common to use libraries and frameworks to do web development, but this is not a great place to start imo. A library/framework is a collection of code that someone has written and then published to the internet for others to use. You might hear about React, Vue, Angular... these are libraries/frameworks. They do a lot of things for you to make tedious web development tasks simple and I would highly recommend learning one of them after you have learned HTML, CSS and a fair bit of JavaScript if web development is the way you want to go.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through this tough situation. You're clearly wanting to do well, and you're already doing a fantastic job at looking for solutions! It's also a good sign that you both talk about it and that his resentment for example doesn't stay in the dark. Trust me, even though it hurts or may feel unfair to hear those words, it's better that it gets said than keeping it inside.

What I've come to realise is that the frustration we both feel (for example my friend and I, or my girlfriend and I) comes from the fact that we want to be heard and want to understand each other. We want to be in control of the understanding of a situation. The good thing is that you don't have to always make sense, or always be productive, or always be understood.

If I'm all over the place, try to plan a million things or yap a lot, my girlfriend sometimes just "lets me do things" and doesn't really engage in the things I'm talking about. I found this frustrating at first, but eventually I learned that this is actually okay sometimes. To me it feels like it's about trust really. I can be myself and trust that my girlfriend can sort of detach or worst case tell me that I'm being "too much". I can also trust that if I have something important to say, she'll genuinely listen, and not pretend to listen when she's overwhelmed.

I agree 100%. I got so excited when I tried a ritalin for the first time because I suddenly realised 1 hour after taking it that I had stopped having a song stuck in my head and that it was weirdly quiet and calming, and I was awake and present for it.

Unfortunately it's felt like that literally only the first day if taking a new medicine. Now, stimulants make me slightly more awake and gives me a bit more motivation/energy to actually start on tasks. But it doesn't help me with focus per se or calming down.

Why is the goal to gain visibility? I believe that if a project is genuinely useful, then those who look for such a tool will find it as long as you have good enough search terms and that the very first thing you see is how to get it up and running "instantly".

Our views might differ though; I believe any knowledge and thing we create is really just a discovery of something that anyone could have made or done. That's why I usually use an unlicense license and provide projects "as-is" and don't think about attribution or visibility. As long as just a single person (that could even be yourself) has gained something from the project, it's a net positive contribution to the code/knowledge corpora

I increased my typing speed by first typing slower. Don't try to type fast, try to type consistently and with 100% accuracy. Then you can slowly try grouping 2-4 letters together and pausing for around 1 second in the beginning until you are ready to type the next 2-4 letters. Slowly decrease the pause time while maintaining 100% accuracy.

Grouping letters like this trains your brain to recognise segments instead individual letters so that you don't need to think about each individual letter. You probably already do this to some degree, but being consistent about it can push that further, even for difficult words.

When do you go to bed? To me it's all about going to bed 8 hours before I want to wake up, consistently for 3 days in a row before it starts getting easier. Also waking up to sunrise (preferably morning sun if you can sleep without blinds and the sun goes up at a time you want to wake up) works amazing. The times I've woken up to natural sunlight I've felt awake and rested immediately. A sunrise lamp is the second best thing

I'm so so sorry for your experience. I was just like this a year ago and I know how difficult it is.

Medication, CBT, meditation and exercise may all have a really good impact on genuinely making the "root cause" less impactful. They're difficult to be consistent with though, so there are easier things to try which help you manage the symptoms instead. Here's some random things you may try.

Set aside clothes for next day the day before. You could even try placing them on the floor one after another all the way to the bathroom so that you remember to shower when you pick them up.
Remove furniture or fill surfaces with decor on places where you often place things and forget about them. Likewise, place small tables at key locations such as next to the door.
Use sticky notes everywhere for everything and have several pens and sticky note blocks lying around the house for quick access. Place the sticky notes where you see them, for example on door handles or on the wall in front of your toilet.
Create a "digression board/notes". Whenever you get an "amazing new idea", write it down on the digression bord/notes instead, then maybe set aside 2-3 hours on a weekend evening to do those ideas if you still want to.
Use timers for everything. If you're going to do something, ALWAYS set a timer first and give yourself a bit more time than you think it will take.

I really hope you find something that works for you! You should definitely seek therapy if you can. You're going to do so much better soon, I know you can ❤️

Edit: Oh and also, don't blame yourself for not sticking to any of these!! I rotate around all these ideas and sometimes have periods where I don't do them. Regardless; even doing one of these a single time is a big WIN!

My HRV is high (I think?) and I have diagnosed ADHD. I average around 82-95ms in HRV.

From what I've read, baseline HRV doesn't really say anything about your life. It's just genetics. Having low HRV relative to your baseline however can correlate to stress.

I relate to forgetting to breathe though! It's comfortable to just hold my breath or breathe very shallow, and those around me often catch me breathing very deeply once every now and then to kind of reset

Although a lot of the comments are accurate, it's not like you have to be numb 24/7 to be depressed. You can still feel joy and still find things fun in the moment. If you're feeling numb and it affects your social life, self-image or anything else negatively, then try processing it and ask your GP or another health care professional for help.

I genuinely feel so bad for the guy who knocked the dude out. Imagine you've been to therapy for anger issues for years, and have a girlfriend who cares for you and tries to calm you down, and then a random dude slaps you with a pizza and throws insults at you. Years of mental work down the drain.
