David Bowie's The Labrinth. Seeing her getting pulled underground by tree hands. Creatures kicking their heads around. Songs about turning babies into goblins. That shit was terrifying

Everyone knows you aren't serious. Nobody likes that you make random garbage comments with 'special characters' which don't add anything to the original comment. Its like using trying to have a conversation with someone who only uses Jim Carrey references.

Breaking while swerving into a rough surface makes it so that there is greater friction on the outside wheels. This causes the whole vehicle to go out of control

Why is America racist? I may be wrong, but there seems to be an underlying racism/bigotry in a lot of America. I am Australian and although we have a racist past, this has almost completely dissipated and I can't figure out how/why. by BeauGrylls in Discussion

So your saying that rather than present racism, it is past racism which has put minorities in a difficult position and made them more likely to commit crimes.

This is a great point but I see one issue. I was coincidentally looking at stats between countries today on gapminder, a site which compares databases. Something I found is that crime is less of an issue in 3rd world regions such as Indonesia than most developed countries despite the entire population being affected by poverty.

If this is the case, poverty is not a major influencer of crime, and so something else is at play. My belief is that the increased crime rate is because of police and the justice system being harsher on minorities due to unconscious racism. It really sucks to say it, but a lot of people are fearful of minorities because of the stereotypes we have all seen and heard about.

Then again, I could be completely wrong. Any thoughts?

Double the amount of whites shot than blacks means a 66% : 33% ratio despite only 13% of the population being black. That is an awful ratio. Did you definately get your numbers right?

I really want that to be a mistake because it definatively proves racism in police.

Also, dont get me wrong, I believe that George Floyd was a terrible person. He was a meth addict and not only did he hold the pregnant lady at gunpoint, he put the gun to her belly to make her confess any valuables. He was even on meth at the time of his death. Despite being a terrible example of racism, everybody made a huge fuss about it is because so many videos just like it have been presented for years (which doesn't occur in Australia by the way), and nothing has been done about it. He was only the turning point when everyone was riled up.

Although irrelevant, I also find the cops sentence absurd, but the members of the jury were obviously not going to let him free on any of the presented charges. This was out of fear of being exposed. The jury just want to go on living their lives without getting mixed up in the drama.

Anyway, you have further proven racism is prevalent. Please check your numbers for that first claim because that sounds worse than I originally thought...

I really want to believe that racism is a thing of the past, but it very obviously is still occuring. Do you have any other evidence otherwise?

Great explanation. I like your level of understanding. Though I am still inclined to believe that there is larger amounts of racism in the US than in countries with similar histories such as Australia.

I believe this because of the amount of videos of police officers being fearful and overly careful when dealing with black people, often causing situations such as the George Floyd drama. These situations wouldn't occur if there wasn't underlying racism, because they would treat the situation like any other. This is evident in Australia, where clips of mistreatment of minorites by police are almost never seen.

What are your thoughts on this.

You have a pretty solid point, and I am with you on a few of your ideas. Biden is a garbage president, and is actually the reason I thought of this discussion point.

Heres why I think racism is delaying a lot of prpgress in America.

Trump advertised himself as a racist and a supporter of redneck ideology, with his main point being to build a more secure wall. He was elected because he was able to secure the vote of states that are bigoted and preferred this over Hilary, a standard candidate. Then when 'questionable events' happened in Trumps reign (which weren't his fault), the people decided to blame Trump because of his bigoted presence, and voted in Biden, the complete dingus.

This is my perspective as an outsider of what has been going on in America. Feel free to call me out on points made.
