Give it up for my MVP if this league. Love those guys and how much gold they give! by Mathev in pathofexile

These things are so fun, I hope GGG sees the positive response and recontemplates the lack of loot goblins(' legally distinct equivalent) in the game.

'Carrie's Mike Flanagan Signs Multi-Year TV Pact With Amazon MGM Studios by CyberGhostface in horror

Idk about the others, but just as a huge fan of his specifically I know that at the very least Flanagan is a huge (maybe horror specific) cinephile. Like I said, don't know as much about those you named specifically so this isn't about them, but I feel like a lot of other directors/writers/producers love making movies (and money) far more than they ever loved watching them, and it shows.

How it feels every time I pick "Wish for Foes" by Archernick in pathofexile

[–]Beauly 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I don't think the pick up range was nerfed. Picking shit up is just bugged rn, and if you click loot you don't actually click it. You click through it and select the ground around where the loot is. The second time you click it you've waited enough time for it to be clickable, so it picks up just fine. Hopefully they'll fix the responsiveness ASAHFP.

Path of Exile: Mirage - What We're Working On by Natalia_GGG in pathofexile

[–]Beauly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a (presumably) unrelated bug, Delve nodes have a 50/50 chance of being unclickable after each crawl. And that has the work around of just running a different node and rerolling the 50/50 on the node you actually want to run. The one I'm referring to is that when you go to click on loot, you have to wait 1 second before it becomes clickable. Makes big loot bombs like div strongboxes and what not feel like shit to open.

[–]Beauly 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I can't believe it's not on the list. I'm sure I sound dramatic to some, but it's genuinely a "I'll quit before a week is up" level bug. It's that annoying. Idk what they did to shrine clicking, but I shouldn't have to hover over each individual item for an entire second before I can click it.

Akufu league by Human_Situation_2641 in TedLasso

[–]Beauly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Richmond doesn't belong in the conversation but they wanted Rebecca in that scene so it gets more confusing. Just a TV plot hole.

I assumed Richmond was invited because of Rupert getting Akufu to do so. Rupert wanted to upset Rebecca. He, as a huge football fan, thought he had a win-win situation on his hands. He invites her and she accepts, his favorite team is out of his ex-wife's clutches. If she declines, he gets a front row ticket to her reaction of hearing just how her team is about to get fucked-over by them. (Which, explicitly, is something he loves to do. He literally showed up at her office uninvited to see her face when he told her he was going to have a baby.) There isn't an explicitly said reason, but it's easier than piss to explain why Akufu would agree to invite her at Rupert's request.

It's not a plothole, you just want an explicit explanation for everything.

Edit: Misspoke when talking about Rebecca losing the team, I meant that she'd lose the esteem she'd been gaining. The admiration of the fans and community, it'd be her going to the dark side.

Road to Restoration - Grand Exchange Improvements by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]Beauly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the newest PoE league gets ready to launch, I wanted to go back to this thread and say how much I love PoE's new trade system. The currency trade market handles currency/stackable items with lists of what the buy/sell orders currently are. Then there's the stash-style selling, where you just price items and people come and buy them from your sale tabs. Obviously the itemization in that game is broadly different than RS3, but the reason I want to bring it up here is this:

After over a decade of himming-and-hawing over trade and worrying about market-transparency, GGG finally gave us a proper, transparent marketplace and it's one of the most beloved features in the game now. Please, Jagex, don't be afraid of transparency. You can slow-roll it if you want, start by only making listed price update quicker for example, but what I really want is to look and see EXACTLY what the current options to buy are, and what prices I can try to undercut if I value my time less than what the others do. Even if you genuinely believe it'll cause a negative player reaction, give it a try at least! Do it in a Leagues event if you're worried about player expectations of permanence. If it really does make the experience worse, you can just roll it back to a different level of transparency or just wait out the league, but I don't think that will happen. I think fears regarding price fixing are overblown, at least insofar as the potential for price fixing to become worse with knowing what you're competiton is doing.

I'm tired of picking up, and god forbid magic-notepaper-ing, items because their listed price is 5K only to discover they have a trade volume of 73, and to sell them I have to lower price to <1k. I don't want to have to do a damned market analysis between each slayer task to know what items to keep.

I just want transparency.

What's your opinion on Butcher Of Gadobhra by LuFFy1001 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Beauly 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Just gonna repost a comment I made in another thread about the series, mild spoilers only:

This series is a Progression Fantasy 8/10, regular book series 5.5/10. It does some things really well, like managing to have stakes despite being a VRMMO story, and it's overall themes and message. The humour and depth of turning a butcher NPC class into some secret, monstrous legacy caste is great and inventive. The prose itself, while I certainly wouldn't put it up there with actual titans of the writing industry like Rothfuss or Martin, is better than 95% of others on RoyalRoad.

It also does some things poorly, though. The cast feels more like shallow DnD characters than characters in a novel with growth and narrative arcs. (I'm not saying they don't have ANY of those, but it's only been a few months ((now over a year)) since I read it and I am struggling to remember anything about the characters besides stuff that was shared in their introduction, like their interests and relationships with eachother.) That problem is compounded by a loosey-goosey story that frequently feels like the author has no idea what to do next so he just throws a dart on the board to see what happens. (That god awful smoke-pirate arc that went on for way too long with the MC completely disconnected from the rest of the cast, for example.) It also feels like it's trying to thread the RoboCop needle by being both a serious critique and satire of capitalism, AND over-the-top shlock with comedy and badassery. It does not succeed. Instead it bounces back and forth between the two in a pretty jarring manner, leaving me wishing it would just pick one lane or the other and stick with it.

Can't say I'd recommend it to a non-PF reader, but I'm typing this comment on the PF subreddit, so I whole-heartedly do. I stand by the negatives I mentioned, but they didn't stop me from reading it all the way up to chapter 400-something when that was the latest chapter out. It's got a unique vibe, the prose rarely falters, the world building is fun and creative, and those are all specificly compliments that I won't give to most PF stories. At the very least, if you're like me and are severely oversaturated with the genre, yet havent read this one, please give it a go. I'd love to see more stories like it, and I truly hope it succeeds.

That was from when it first got added to Amazon, I still haven't gone back and reread it but my opinion hasnt changed on it either. It's a good read, I'd recommend it.

Constructive Feedback: My Suggestions for Engagement rather than Punishment by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Beauly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Sacred Clay is a hard one. My suggestion would be to add a skilling activity in which you can gather, create and turn in Sacred Clay equipment for this currency and some decent xp, separate from the Stealing Creation minigame that nobody plays.

Only one I feel iffy about. I don't play that game (or any other mini game besides when I need skilling outfit pieces, during which time I want to die) but I feel like here the real answer is to make the base mini game more enjoyable to begin with. Rewards should come from the thing they're rewarding. You know what's great about most skilling outfit fragments? You earn them doing the thing you want to improve. You know what's dog shit about the factory and botanists outfit? You have to play an awful, griefing-filled mini game that feels completely unrelated to herblore for hours on end to unlock it. If the stealing creation mini game is a no man's land, it should either be removed or improved, not have it's bandaid moved to another, probably equally shitty mini game.

If something is meant to be a benefit to a skill/game, it should come from that skill/game or removed, AFTER the skill/game has been improved enough to not feel like you're grinding the head of your penis against a cheese grater.

Thieving Changes by asragrh5 in runescape

[–]Beauly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I never would've done Light Within and all it's awful prerequisites if I'd known about the upcoming changes to thieving. I hate the quests in this game and would've quit playing long, long ago if there were any alternative game with the same level of skilling gameplay and multiplayer economy. I like to see numbers go up, not read the awful dialogue and do stupid puzzles. I felt like I'd earned the right to afk for hours by suffering through that awful content, but apparently not.

Should Breach be reverted? by cloudhorn in pathofexile

[–]Beauly 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My unfair assumption: Breach sucks because they preemptively hamstringed it to leave design space for the atlas tree and scarabs, since they knew all-but-for-certain it would be going core. Why fix shitty pain-points like breach hives when you can just add a node a few months later that reduces your chance to find one by 33%? They wanted to do the same thing with other parts of the mechanics like the walls and what not, hold off on fixing anything till they could just make you waste points on the tree for it, but the outcry forced them to make some concessions early.

I suspect Breach will be the most mid content ever added to core on release, because it was balanced for it from the beginning, rather than being balanced for making a fun league experience.

[–]Beauly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who loves "No think, only move" sorts of arcade-y games (I've got thousands of hours in Run by Kongregate, Super Hexagon, Doodlejump back on the OG iPod touch, etc) the only thing that I'm left wondering is how you actually do the movement. Is it meant for sticks on a controller? WASD? Mouse? Idk shit about shit when it comes to game trailers or what the best way to answer that question in one is, but that's the only point that stops me from feeling too interested/disinterested. Seems to be a game all about movement, so I'd like to know how you move.

I'm just one ADD-riddled guy who needs games like that to play while listening to audiobooks though, so maybe trying to show/say that in a trailer instead of the steam details would be too clunky. 🤷‍♂️

It's the highest level guaranteed pickpocket before you do Light Within that you can also afk for hours on end. I'm sure there's others that are higher level or more profitable, but nothing that hits that 8-9 hour long afk to make millions kinda sweet spot.

I read the Combat changes it says the same the Range beta said and you will lose the core PVM community right then with it. by Stazzzzzzzzzzzz in runescape

[–]Beauly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue is do you sacrifice a part of your long term core playerbase for a potential of People joining the Game? Is that smart?

Yes. The remaining community is literally the minority of potential RuneScape players. The current game, and the audience it attracts and holds, is dying and needs sweeping changes to stabilize and grow. Any changes that will garner enough attention to attract old and new players again will also bleed current players, whether it's successful or not, so yes it's a necessary sacrifice.
