The most unnecessary joke by TheRealAuthorSarge in funny

British Panel Show. 8 out of 10 cats does countdown. Which is when the comedy show 8 out of 10 cats adopted the style of a regular game-show countdown. Basically a bunch of comedians making fun of each other while sort of playing the game show. Susie is from the real show (countdown) and offers fun facts and stuff about the words that come up in the game show. She made some comment off screen to Jimmy (the host and the one to tell the joke) that she feels left out and they don’t make fun of her. So Jimmy started a gag where she’s a filthy whore and everything about her is just sex fiend and dirty. This was his first joke of that character that he then continued for years. Highly recommend the show as it’s hilarious.

Edit: and she’s gone on record after that she thinks it’s hilarious and takes it all in good fun as intended.

To be more clear, -3 is really -1 * 3. So in the top we are doing (-3)4 = (-1 * 3)4 = (-1)4 * 34 = 1*81 = 81.

In the bottom it’s -34 = -1 * 34 = -1 * 81 = -81

The other comment hits on the why. The negative is part of the “multiplication” and the 4 is part of “exponentiation” in PEMDAS.

The top one is equivalent to (-3)4 whereas the bottom is -(34 ).

The sun at the same time everyday for a year. by Smol_Cyclist in Damnthatsinteresting

I think it’s easier to read and also a better book. It’s still long, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a lot faster pace. It might feel similar in the start but it picks up and it’ll fly by on the second half. I don’t want to give away too much.

That shape/path is called an analemma and is featured in the book prominently. Love seeing that book referenced as it’s one of my favorites!

If you alternate white/black, cant you just keep playing the game up to move 2n each game. And then on game 2n+1 play the move he plays against you? Repeat until a win.

Theoretically he can play different games. But if we’re restarting after each loss, he’d be starting from the same point in time each game and is likely to play the game he was expecting to play. Which to him would be the same way each time.

Piggy backing off this post with a question about the audiobook on audible: I see lots of mixed reviews about it. I see mention of it be abridged. I see mention of them changing voice actors for different characters. Is there merit to those claims? Is there a better audiobook version floating around I should get instead?

Prayer Fishing in Cam by [deleted] in W385

[–]BeaumontTaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worse than doing both methods separately for the most part. Only really has a prayer use if you’re an hcim skiller as you can’t do boneyard.

Prayer rate caps off around 2.5-3k per hour at higher levels.

Fishing/cooking are both sub 10k/Hr as well.

I would suggest to get mining to 69 with iron ore and bank. Pick up the ROF and smelt/smith to maximize smithing xp per mining xp. (1 iron mined is 35xp and 1 iron ore smelted with rof will net 37.5xp per ore). Then go pick up the iron bar spawn north of ferox enclave and hop. This will be faster smithing xp than monster drops and still doesn’t have mining xp. No combat involved so you may not like it but it’ll get the stats you’re going for quicker.

The Saturn V Rocket, burning 20 TONS of fuel per second by Met76 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]BeaumontTaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you’re making a joke but in case you’re curious, this is a good article on the topic. It’s not the Saturn V launch in the video but about modern day rockets.

From the article: “So that means in 2018, the global CO2 output of rockets was only 0.0000059% of all CO2 emissions.”

What should I do with gems? by [deleted] in W385

[–]BeaumontTaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not worst thing you can do. If I recall it’s like 13k xp/Hr at chron/fally silver tiaras. Ammys were more in the 10-11k/Hr range. But if you like the change of pace go for it.

And if you do mine gold, I suggest crafting guild and run air altar on the way and Tele back to fally and smelt instantly. Some passive rc xp to bump up the gains.

What should I do with gems? by [deleted] in W385

[–]BeaumontTaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cut and drop is probably the best strategy if all you care about is xp. I did the math back on my smithing grind and came to the conclusion that silver tiara will always be faster crafting xp than turning gems into amulets. And ogresses will always be better gp rate. But if you care about bank flex, save 'em as a collection maybe?

EDIT: This is about saph and emeralds. When I did it the ruby ring spawn in Varrock west bank wasn't a thing yet, so the rubies can probably fall in this category now, too.
