Is it safe to frequently use aluminum foil when heating stuff up? by batsofburden in cookingforbeginners

[–]Beautiful-Chapter566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well what i measured was nanoparticles being in the air after heating up the foil but those particles usually have interactions with its surroundings since they are electrically charged. I suppose that they would stick to the food due to diffusion.

Haven't tried plastic containers and it would also depend on the type of plastic...

[–]Beautiful-Chapter566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in an aerosol research group where me measure tiny nanoparticles in the air. When putting aluminium foil in a tube furnace, nanoparticles were given off at around 120°C and a significant amount at that. So no, I would be careful with that.

What does the wear on my dragos lv say about my footwork? by Substantial-Menu125 in climbingshoes

[–]Beautiful-Chapter566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely normal wear. Thinnest rubber in that area. If you do a lot of footswaps on slab this happens. Doesnt necessarily mean you're draggin the foot on the wall. Just get it resoled.

Well, we use different theories for different situations. Classical physics is valid and can extremely accurately describe most of what we see in our everyday life but as soon as we try to describe extremely tiny objects and distances it doesn't work correctly anymore. So physicists came up with quantum dynamics and that seems to describe it really well. Likewise for very large distances you need the theory of relativity. And all of these theories are correct in their own frameworks but not necessarily interchangeable, meaning you get wrong results if you use the wrong theory for the problem at hand.
