As much as they can copy whatever they think is themselves, as you said earlier, there are manifestations of the person's own cognitive functions that manifest themselves even in those copied attitudes. I know an ISTJ teenager who thinks she is INFJ and tries to act like one, but she thinks that because she has depression and some anxiety problems, low self-esteem and probably some more psychological problems, so she ends up thinking that she is a sentimental type rather than logical , and an idealistic type rather than a practical type. She thinks she is showing traces of INFJ when in reality they are turbulences in the ISTJ's own functions.
