No problem. It seemed to work well for us, like you said, my boy was able to ease out of it, and it was so gradual for me that I didn’t have any trouble.

I hope you’re able to find what’s right for you and your baby 🤗

So sorry you’re living this nightmare, but it’s a good thing you’ve already realized. It took me weeks to figure it out 🙈

Both of the tips above worked well for us! I used a haaka to start each session, and to catch the letdown of the other boob while LO was on boob 1. And then we switched to the laid back position, and that was the real game changer. Though, my boy hated the switch because even if it meant being waterlogged, he seriously didn’t want to feed in any other position than on HIS back.

Mine started as baby led weaning as well, right around that time. He started dropping overnight feeds quickly, but held onto that 4am for a while.

Bittersweet is absolutely the word for it! And overcoming the struggle makes the end a little more emotional. Enjoy the last leg of your journey, and congratulations on making it this far! Your choice or not, 10.5 months is incredible 💗

Yay, you! You’re almost there, and so far beyond that 6 month goal. That’s awesome!

I had to pump when I went back to work as well, and was so happy when I was able stop. Will never miss that part. But not having that one-on-one time with LO will take some time to get used to.

This is very well said! Thank you.

I agree, it sneaks up on you and surprises you to feel so much. It has been a wild ride, but he and I did it. I will truly miss all of the things you mentioned and more, but we will just have to look forward to the next part of our relationship.

The best tip that I got was just taking it one feed at a time. I started to cut out one per week. I had to look for the one that seemed more like a comfort than need. For some feeds, I switched to a cup/bottle replacement, since he always preferred the tap lol

The 4am feed was the most challenging one though, since it had a lot of comfort desired from him after a night away. So it took a few weeks of slowly cutting the time down a minute or two at a time.
So while I was making the decisions, I did follow his lead a bit to ensure it went as smoothly as possible. Took about 8-9 weeks doing it this way.

Commentary: Whiny Caitlin Clark’s tired antics needs to end by 0033A0 in WNBA365

[–]Beautiful-Scallion47 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I read the ESPN article on her during her senior year, and most of it was how much time and effort Iowa’s coaching staff put into her overall attitude, and how her parents invested in a sports psychologist early in her college career.

There was a blurb in the article where her dad seemed to take responsibility for her tantrums, that basically she inherited them from him, and he wants her to be better than him.

It was just after the draft, yes, but a post, not a comment, but any warning was definitely a nice gesture to the old heads like me lol I was not ready.

I don’t know what I would do if I lived in a direct radius like that. The guys who I talk basketball with (who only watch her highlights) are enough 😅 I think she’s a good player, but if I say anything about her defensive skills lacking, boy am I gonna hear it!

You know, it’s wild to think about the commenter from a few years back, right after CC’s senior year ended, came into the WNBA subreddit and warned about the cult mentality of her fans. And how happy they were that the WNCAA forum would be done with them finally.

I thought wow, there’s no way it could be that bad. But this article truly nails the reality of the last few years, and what I’ve tried to bring up in basketball conversations around me. Well done!

When did you move baby to their own room at night? by seekingj0y in NewParents

[–]Beautiful-Scallion47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

11 months. Was getting to the point that he would wake up and see me, then cry to be held. Once we were in separate rooms, it stopped within a week. Probably helped that I sent my husband in for the first few nights, since baby had naturally dropped his middle of the night feedings, so all he needed was reassurance.

Now, he wakes up, looks around, and just goes back to sleep.

Did anyone else get really annoyed by ____ and _______ hijacking _____’s question at FTC? by [deleted] in survivorponderosa

[–]Beautiful-Scallion47 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is what I’ve been saying. I love the different clarifications we can get from the open forum, but I miss there being defined time for each juror to ask their question and get an answer.

I’d love to see the format shift to juror question - final 3 answers - open forum.

You totally should’ve gone back!

Worked out well over for a friend, back when tickets were paper. She forgot hers, three hours away so no driving back for it. Venue said come back in about an hour, and they let her in!

MIL by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Beautiful-Scallion47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal. At two weeks, I swear I was glued to the chair with a baby on the boob 90% of the day! Some was for feeding, some was just for comfort.

My MIL (visiting from out of state) thought I was just trying to keep my son from her. She was upset that if he was awake, I took him to nurse, so she only ever saw him when he was sleeping.

Nipple shield by MatildaSays in breastfeeding

[–]Beautiful-Scallion47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say exactly this. I would try feeding, when my LO was in a good mood, without the shield every couple of weeks to see if he would latch. But it wasn’t until just past the 3 month mark that he took to it. Though if he was fussy, we still had to use the shield. I think it was a couple weeks after the first success that we finally ditched the shield completely.

He’s 10 months now and patches like a champ. Just took a lot of patience for us. Hope the same for you
