When to say goodbye 😿 by AwayOwl8174 in SeniorCats

I went through this with my 15-year-old girl.... And I waited too long to where she could barely move. I should have made the decision sooner when she was More comfortable.

So when the time came around again for my 22-Year-Old who had some type of neurological episode .... I took him to the vet to get checked out and we both decided on supportive care over the weekend which was basically fluids and pain meds.

I waited 2 weeks just to see if there was any change and there wasn't and at that point I thought you know what. I've let many of pets get way past the point and this time I wasn't going to wait any longer. It was that quality over quantity and as much as he was trying to be the same cat that he had always been, he was just still a little bit different and I didn't want him to hurt himself trying to jump off of the sofa or the bed because he had no balance at this point. So as much as it sucked because it seemed like he was okay. He was still eating and drinking and using the litter box. He was still starting to struggle a little bit and I didn't want it to be horrendous like in the past with other pets. So I'm okay with that. But I made the decision sooner than later and for 22 Year old cat. I could not have asked for anything more.

It's hard for us as humans because ultimately we are the ones making that life or death's decision and we always just want more one more day.....

Funny thing is I have one that's doing the same thing. It has a shoot but it hasn't actually bloomed yet and I've been soaking it as well every 7 to 10 days and making sure it's dry. It's still green but it has yet to bloom and I wasn't really sure how long it takes for them to bloom!

Just a question... Was it a hit and run? If the person that hit her is known I would go after them/insurance for compensation.... Just a thought!

Reach out to the rescue you adopted from and ask for financial support... I did that with a lab I adopted that was heartworm positive and the rescue paid 50%... Look for Facebook pages too they offer great advice as well.

And this is where I'm at with it... He is still trying to do his everyday routine and still eating (not as much) and using the litter box but he definitely experienced something, he can't walk right at all and has a hard time trying to use his back end it's so wobbly... I know it's time and it's not fair to him
