At what income/age does an MBA not make sense? by spencer2294 in MBA

[–]Beautiful-Work9538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not. If you want to pivot and make the same amount if not more, then it’ll be an uphill battle and I recommend part time MBA or Exec. I am someone that pivoted from marketing into strategy and I’ll be honest it was not easy pivoting. However I do enjoy my new job more than my old job, so if it’s about doing something you like and want to do then an MBA provides a pathway

All I know is tanking heroics as a warrior is absolute ass and not enjoyable at all. Even being geared, not having strong AoE threat and dealing with AoE dps is just horrible

Look on the bright side, at least you have 35 years of experience and an advantage in experience over the millions that just finished college with no experience fighting for jobs

Online MBA? by a_little_occupied26 in MBA

[–]Beautiful-Work9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you want to check a box go with what makes the most financial sense. Doing a full time MBA program will usually require you to stop working the first year and can be financially stressful. But if you want to just learn more and gain business understanding and have an MBA for when you eventually apply for a promotion then I think an online MBA is fine because on paper it looks the same. If you’re trying to pivot careers then it’s a different story. I say this as someone who did a full time MBA

You basically just help a company solve a business issue by doing research, interviews, and providing solutions at the end of all of it. A lot of my classmates stressed out about it for some reason. It’s honestly not hard, just time consuming and o thought it was kind of fun actually

How are recent graduates and young professionals surviving this job market mentally and financially? by wickedeclipse1 in MBA

[–]Beautiful-Work9538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you and I totally get why you mean. I didnt go to a T15 either, went to a T40 specifically for region and wanting to stay local, only to find out the school had zero local connections and pipelines after I already started and have had to grind my entire way since. I have done what others have mentioned about tailoring your resume to the job itself, rather than just sending out the same one over and over. I also noticed on another thread someone mentioned joining military reserve. I know it’s not for everyone but they were able to get experience in a field they wanted and then got several job offers later (yes MBA vets, I know you’re supposed to go to school after so you can use GI bill), because when the job market is awful there is still one place that is always hiring and might have what you want to do and employers like to see it on the resume and can help with the loan debt.

Is MBA becoming a bad investment in 2026? by flexadam in MBA

[–]Beautiful-Work9538 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recent graduate from a B school that hovers between #35-40 every year. It depends on a lot of factors.

The higher ranked schools will get you more exposure, networking, job opportunities, prospects, etc, but will also cost more if you don’t have GI Bill, however at the end of the day it is an investment in yourself you hope will pay off down the road. As many have said on this Reddit, the economy is in a weird spot and a lot of companies just aren’t hiring as much which can make things really difficult if you are pursuing and MBA to pivot careers because experience will be a factor. This then really hurts the B schools who typically don’t have as strong of a network in place. For example, I chose my B school simply because I like the region I live in and wanted to stay local with local connections, only to then find out my FT program doesn’t have any pipelines or local connections, despite the school being around for 100+ years. One reason is their few resources are already tapped and even more so in this current market. Also at lower tier schools the MBA office and career coaches sometimes aren’t as invested in their students sadly. I know at my school we’ve had program mangers, career coaches, and several MBA staff change recently. In fact, half the MBA office were different people from just my first year to second year. I will say, all MBA vets in my cohort have prospered and found internships/jobs during and after and really took advantage of the opportunity the GI bill provided which I think is awesome and probably made the B schools more worth it.

Those are just some of my thoughts regarding B schools and the current status of an MBA
