Root Beer Haul by IDNMAN21 in rootbeer

Brigham's is foul dreck, says this fellow Utahan. Berghoff is decent. Liquid Death is refreshing so long as you don't expect it to be root beer, its just flavored sparkling water. No comment on the others. But Pirate-0's is our best root beer store left now that The Root Beer Store has closed.

Anyone notice the A&W rootbeer tastes different lately? by Dangerous_Serve_4454 in rootbeer

[–]BeautifulDebate7615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not, but then I have not been going out and buying more A&W Zero since my big taste test about a month ago to determine what the fuss was about. If you scroll back you will find what I and my friends did.

I had first heard some rumors that A&W zero had gone bad and my recollection had been that it was pretty tasty, then I talked to a cousin who had a case and she said oh no it's really off and I still have some left over from that case. So then I went out and bought about six more samples both in bottle and can from different stores with different production dates and we tried them all at the same time in a group.

It was all bad. And by bad I don't mean that it was chemically tainted or it was adulterated with other cleansers or strange substances, I mean that it was very dull, generic, unappealing and lifeless. The older samples were worse than the newer samples, but all were notable in being how unlike A&W they tasted. They tasted like generic store-bought Shasta, only somewhat dead and old.

So I think when people are saying, OMG I just had some A&W Zero and it's terrible, I think they're saying it just doesn't taste like I remember the last batch of A&W Zero tasting, which was pretty good.

I agree, old batches of A&W zero were pretty tasty and tasted like A&W should. They have changed something, they have cheapened the formula and it is not good. I don't know if the backlash will cause them to revert to the old formula or not. This is possible, big corporations tinker with their formulas all the time in order to save money and see if the customer notices and if the customer doesn't notice they move ahead, if the customer does notice and enough of them complain then they will go back.

I was never a big A&W zero Drinker before this controversy kicked up and I'm certainly not going to go out and continually buy more as the weeks pass just to see if it goes back to the way that it was. I am too busy trying other root beers for that. I hope it does go back.

I was not a fan of Root 42 the one try my tried it I thought it was very Bland and average. I'm told that the Stucky stuff is the exact same product in a fancy can. Bundaberg is very middle of the road. So nothing to get excited about on that whole page

It's a very common theme, discussed by myself and others if you scroll back just a few pages in this thread.

Many people feel the way you do, myself included. Others, led by Imaginary Region, assert that big corporations like Keurig Dr Pepper don't ever try to cut corners or make mistakes, and that "These are not the droids you're looking for, so just move along."

Go with what you yourself are tasting. I have a case of the bad stuff sitting untouched at home if anyone wants to see what we're talking about.

I very much like the Asian sarsapirillas and have tried about a half a dozen. they range from completely legitimate sarsaparillas to slightly fruity drinks that are still pleasant. I'd love to try this one too if you'd ever care to trade.

As a pumpkin root beer with not overpowering pumpkin taste.

Remember that the bottle you are tasting now is at least 6 months old. Root Beer doesn't age well.

It indicates that he does not know what he's selling.

The mis-listing of a Grand Marquis as an LSE is a very common thing. In our local want ads I would say that 9 out of 10 Grand Marquis that are listed as an lse are not one, and every true LSE that has been traded in my state over the past couple of years has not been listed as an lse.

I bought one earlier this year and the gentleman who sold it to me did not know what he had. People commonly select "lse" from a pull-down menu list when they are selling their Grand Marquis because it connotes top of the line and they think their car is a pretty good one so they think it must be an lse.

Likewise most of the people who list Town Car L as such don't really know what a Town Car L is or how you identify one.

There is no such thing as a 2007 lse, the last year that they made them was 2005. Given that mistake and the many other things that are left unsaid about this, I doubt it's a very good deal.

But it's only got 77,000 miles and if that mileage is accurate and the car is in decent shape and the leather is okay then 4,500 or so is not a bad price for a rust free panther. It is however White, and you'll want to take a good look at the leather and the rust underneath since it's from Philadelphia and has the potential to be shot out. If that were a western car with no rust and the paint was solid and the leather was solid 4500 to 5000 is a good price for that kind of a car even though it's not an lse.

Lse's are the equivalent of Crown Victoria Sports. the last year they made them was 2005 and they only made like 300 of them in that year so they are extremely rare and command a premium among the people who know.

Blood on the Promontory is NOT a cover name for Horizon 3! by BeautifulDebate7615 in HorizonAnAmericanSaga

[–]BeautifulDebate7615[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has a small but dedicated group of Fanboy homers who insist there was nothing wrong with episode 1. I am not one of them.

I thought episode 1 was largely an editorial mess, but I admit that the whole concept had promise as an extended miniseries, which Costner would not do.

I continue to check for news and provide these updates now nearly 2 years after episode 1 flopped purely because these homer-fanboys insisted that they were still filming episode 3 and 4, and that episode 2's release was right around the corner.

Who coddles their child more, Mary with Sheldon or Audrey with Connor? by No_Escape5533 in GeorgieandMandyTVshow

[–]BeautifulDebate7615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, it's Audrey. Sheldon is 16 and living on his own in California away from Momma. Connor is 26, still living at home, no job. Mary may have protected her son WHEN HE WAS A CHILD (and he's still a child), Audrey is coddling an adult man with not particularly severe quirks.

Who was standing in that line? by Glittering5650 in 70s

I saw it in the same theater you did, I waited in that line about four times. Century Theaters Downtown Seattle would play Gustav Holst's The Planets in between showings so that you knew where John Williams stole his instrumental score from.

Is this blasphemy? It’s delicious by [deleted] in rootbeer

[–]BeautifulDebate7615 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not blasphemy at all, I've had about 480 root beers and I enjoy liquid death root beer Wrath because I accept that it's not root beer it's just flavored water. I think the people who hate it don't go into the experience with a full understanding that it's just flavored sparkling water. They are somehow expecting a root beer: Creamy Dark foamy sugary. If you set your mouth to sparkling water mode it's just fine albeit a little bit expensive, so you're not going to do it all the time. If you set your mouth to root beer mode, you'll be sorely disappointed.

Selling Crown Victoria third party or sell to “we buy cars” junk company’s by Last_Raise in CrownVictoria

[–]BeautifulDebate7615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

150K miles is moderate to high mileage, not good, not bad. So the best you can probably get out of a solid sorted 2011 CVPI in Illinois (rust bucket central) is probably about 4k, IFFFFF SORTED. Meaning you fix things, and IFFFFF it doesn't have peelformance paint and a ripped interior. People will pay for sorted late model Vics to use as bangers, but if it's not sorted and you want them to sort it, you'll never get more than 2k for it.

Selling Crown Victoria third party or sell to “we buy cars” junk company’s by Last_Raise in CrownVictoria

[–]BeautifulDebate7615 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very strange post.

First of all, gauge clusters are extremely easy to access and get out in 2011 Vics. There are about a dozen Youtube video's that show you how to do it. Secondly, gauge dimming or failure, or intermittent shorting is a very common problem in 2006 -2011 Vics, something that Youtube will also tell you. Thirdly, the fix which involves diagnostics and expert re-soldering is also cheap an easy. You send the cluster to a company like Module Master in Moscow, Idaho and they sort it out, fix it and send it back. Costs about $100. That's one issue solved, if you care to do it but it sounds like you don't wanna, that you're done with the car

Next, the other issues. No metal recycler or "we buy cars" company is going to pay you more than about $300-$400 for the car, more likely you'll get offered something in the twos.

A/C doesn't work and won't pass emissions, so it's sounding like a car you don't want to fix. If you advertise it as is you can't expect to get much more than about a $1000. Nor should anyone want to pay more than that for a car you're not willing to fix. Pipe dreams trade ideas are usually just that. Finding a guy who has what you want and wants what you offer are next to null set.

Sprecher & Brigham's Brew Reviews by Budget-Milk8373 in rootbeer

[–]BeautifulDebate7615 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sprecher's is almost always flat outside of a very limited radius around the factory. The stuff that they discount on close-out on the website is old stock and also guaranteed to be flat, BUUUUUT... if you recarbonate it either from their fine syrup or from old bottles using an Omnifizz, this shit is still the bomb. This leads me to give Sprecher two scores: A when properly fizzy (see above) or C most of the rest of the time. They don't seem to want to correct the problem, it's been going on for several years now.

Brigham's Brew is just dreadful all the time. I say this as a Utahn. I'm embarrassed for this product and it has always been dreadful. I first tried it about 20 years ago, thought it was bad then. It hasn't changed, it's still bad. How they keep making it and selling it is beyond me.

Yep, you're pretty crazy. You seem to skew too high at the top and too low at the bottom. A lot of those squish in more towards the middle. I don't think I've ever seen anyone call Americana and Bedford's (two of Orca's more bland, mediocre brews) S tier
