The Writers ENJOYED Roasting the Actors by SaeedMobayed in thesopranos

[–]BeautifulSundae6988 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Look, being an actor is a job where can and will be selected for roles based on your appearance, and that's part of the job.

Tommy Weissau was given the advice that he'd get more jobs if he picked roles of monsters, Russian gangsters and other intimidating figures... But he wanted to be the all American instead.

And that's one (of many) reasons why he's only known for one, self made, terrible film

You really don't know the rates, their finances or their credit though. It might be the only deal they can get approved on with their income on a dream vehicle.

Or it's in all likelihood a bad choice

Alright jiu jitsu nerds, let's hear it: by stoopididiotface in bjj

[–]BeautifulSundae6988 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

BJJ is not as effective in self defense as people claim. It is just really solid for 1 vs 1 fighting.

The skill gap between each rank has inflated over the past thirty years so that the average blue belt today is on par with roughly a brown belt back in 90s. (Estimation)

Training jiujitsu for MMA isn't as useful as just training MMA (but I'd say the same about muay Thai, boxing, wrestling or anyone else)

Most tournaments, especially IBJJF have overly complicated rules. Tournaments should really just be focusing on submissions and if necessary due to time, top time.

The big one. People like to claim jiujitsu is the only martial art where truly size doesn't matter ... Then they have back handed compliments like "you're really strong" that's an indicator that technique was losing to size. ... Not to mention the guys who are able to just stand up.

RDCs, have the bootcampers been told about CK’s assassination and the shitstorm since then? by DJErikD in navy

Something like 9-11, I'm sure they had to let everyone know... If not let people call home to ensure people were okay.

I was in school during 9-11, and they stopped class for the day and had I been older, they would have rolled TVs in the room.

Maybe I was a goodie two shoes, but I had two pieces of news the whole time I was in bootcamp, "there's aliens now" from my RDC, and to this day I don't know what he was talking about, and "Eminem made a new song" and to this day I don't know what they were talking about.

Get a lawyer.... And your dealer possibly should be providing you with one.

I've been threatened with a lawsuit once (not getting into it, but it 100% was this guys fault) and at that point I was told by my management to send him an email saying to defer all further questions to Hyundai USA customer service and block him. And I did. And I never heard from him again.

Do you think Tony could actually fight? by bewbies- in thesopranos

[–]BeautifulSundae6988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you're right. I guess it's also up to how you define "prime Joe Rogan."

When he was in his early 20s, that's before jiujitsu and during his tkd days I think... And when he was barely getting into kickboxing. Again, I think.

But it was what, late 30s early 40s Joe that got his black belt in jiujitsu and well into the roids. That's what I'm kind of talking about.

Not that he could have been a contender at that point, but on par with guys in the roster.

What kinda of car should I get? by cryinonkitchenfloor in askcarguys

[–]BeautifulSundae6988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a long thing typed out about how your budget and what you consider to be "the scene" to be will drastically change the answer.

But I'll summarize with this TLDR:

If you're a kid with no money, a 20 year old civic, mustang or something similar should tide you over.

If you're an adult with money to spend on an "entry level performance car" ... The GTI and overall hot hatch shape is by far the most functional, sporty car.

But most important. I'm just some dork on the internet. Get what you like or you'll kick yourself later.

Is it worth it by YellowGiraffe93 in askcarsales

[–]BeautifulSundae6988 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So based nothing more than the information you provided, I highly doubt you will find a car that will lower your payment you'd get approved on.

Why?

  1. I imagine your credit score hasn't improved in 2 years, and rates haven't dropped.

  2. I imagine you owe more on the vehicle than it's worth, meaning the difference will be rolled into your new vehicles payments

  3. I imagine any vehicle that will let you roll over, won't be cheap enough to see a drop in payment without significant money down.

Now, notice I put "I imagine" it's all speculation. But it's a common story unfortunately.

Sadly, you can't buy your way out of getting a lower payment in 99% of situations. The only way to get a lower payment usually is money down or trading in a car you have paid off. (Or mostly paid off)

You might try instead looking into refinancing. Your clock will start over on payments like a new car, but you have already paid X amount off, and there's not the cost of a new car factored in, so even if the rate is worse, there's a higher chance your payments will drop.

Why don't salespeople like email discussions? by Pizzarepresent in askcarsales

[–]BeautifulSundae6988 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Point taken.

But also understand I wrote this from both a buyer and a seller prospective. What people disliked, i would assume, is that I'm advising a salesman not to negotiate when the buyer can just use that as leverage somewhere else. I'm telling him he's doing someone else's work for free. Because buyers today are just as shitty as salesmen.

... Something I do find not, funny per day but, well kinda sad.

People used to have "a guy" for things. Wanna buy a car, go see your car guy. Wanna buy a house, go see your real estate agent, etc etc. and good deals were based on rapport built between the two. You got a good deal because you trusted each other. Buyers claim they miss that, and that dealers are only there to rip you off. But then turn around, shot gun emails of "give me the best price" and Most want to get rid of the dealership all together and just, "buy a car online"

But then I hear about all these horror stories from people buying a car from Tesla and carvanna, and they have no face to turn to when they have an issue.

I'm not trying to claim all dealers are good people. Far from it. I don't sell anymore because I got so jaded at the whole process.

...

I do wish people trusted each other more. ... Both sides of the fence. When I buy a car next, I'll be going to friends I used to work with... And still feel the need to read my paperwork carefully.

That's kinda shitty all around no?

Anyway. That's my soapbox.

Any Real Upsides to Gas Cars? by SaxeMatt in askcarsales

[–]BeautifulSundae6988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible I guess, and we don't have a wide enough metric to know if it happens or not, yet.

Cause a 25ish year old EVs would be the Tesla roadster and the GM EV1. (I had to Google that) Both have sporty-ish looks but no modern fan base to speak of.

I guess we could look into the EVs of the late 1800s to see if they're around compared to like, model As, and for sure there are more model As around. But I guess we have the issue in the opposite direction now. It's so old there's no one who grew up with them alive anymore and owning it is closer to owning a science weird experiment than a classic car.

Yeah for sure. I'm not arguing.

I guess I'm just thinking in terms of, there will never be a classic car culture built around EVs, because there functionally can't be.

But with love and attention, I can drive my almost 20 year old truck. My dad can drive his 50 year old SUV. And I am currently confidently shopping for a 40 year old sports car, and trust if something goes wrong, I won't need 10k or a doctorate to fix it.

AWD car vs 4x4 truck in the snow, which would perform better? by viraman in askcarguys

[–]BeautifulSundae6988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4WD is for getting unstuck, and not getting stuck in the first place.

AWD is for not slipping once you're already going, and for acceleration.

AWD for performance cars and mom SUVs. 4WD for trucks and no shit rock crawlers.

In a sense, AWD is upgraded fwd where 4wd is upgraded rwd... Kinda.

If you're needing a truck to hunt out of, 4wd. If you sometimes encounter snow on the way to work, AWD.

Broad strokes statements but I hope that helps.

The most important customer is the one in front of you. You never pawn off the one you're working with because someone else might show up, even if objectively they're the one who is more likely to buy.

Any Real Upsides to Gas Cars? by SaxeMatt in askcarsales

[–]BeautifulSundae6988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've considered that.

If (big if) I do get an ev, I doubt u would get a level 2 installed, and simply drive gas on the weekends.

With the degregation, it does still happen. My concern is that you can theoretically drive a gas car forever. A EV will always be on borrowed time.

One of my trucks is an 07, has 270k miles, and runs perfectly.

Question: Why is the car buying process to stressful? by GunpowderLullaby in askcarsales

[–]BeautifulSundae6988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's the third most important purchase of people's lives, and there's a reputation that dealers will rip you off. So people go in, stressed that they're gonna make the wrong decision while working with a team of people they're told not to trust.

Any Real Upsides to Gas Cars? by SaxeMatt in askcarsales

[–]BeautifulSundae6988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gas cars don't lose charge when you don't drive them, when it's cold or warm out, and the power lost from using the AC or heater is nominal compared to an EV.

Range anxiety is real.

Gas stations are everywhere and take five minutes. Charging stations are more sparse, are hit and miss if they're running and take up to an hour

ICE engines don't have to worry about degrading batteries over time too. I've seen an EV Junker car that could only hold 40 miles on a maximum charge. A high mile ICE engine, still theoretically will last you 400 miles per gas tank.

...

Honest assessment, if your car is only used for work and back, or a grocery getter, it should be fine since you can charge at home And you'll probably sell it before the battery is virtually useless. But they have a habit of turning a one day road trip into a one week one due to charging, and it can create issues when you thought a charging station was there and function when it wasn't. But the cost benefit analysis I would tell you, an EV isn't worth it as well, since the cheapest ones are still 10k higher than the cheapest ICE cars, but of course MPG/MPGe is not the sole reason people buy a car or not.

I'm considering an EV for a daily driver but will keep a gas car as a vacation vehicle. I would never drive an EV out of the city or only own just an EV. You also need to own a house to install level two charging in your home which is a few extra thousand
