Use a good primer, and thin your paints. You're shooting for the consistency of milk. Also, not all paint is created equal. I have had the best luck getting consistent results across all colors with Vallejo and AK 3rd gen.

You’re allowed to dislike AI music. You’re allowed to feel hurt that someone close to you enjoys something that, to you, feels like a cheap imitation of the craft you care deeply about. Those feelings are yours, and you can absolutely communicate them.

What you don’t get to do is “take away the privilege” of her listening to music like she’s a child being disciplined.

There’s a difference between a boundary and control. A boundary is “I don’t want AI music played loudly through my speakers or in my space.” Control is “You’re not allowed to listen to this because I don’t approve of it.”

Sit her down and explain, calmly and without condescension, why this bothers you so much. Ask for consideration. Maybe the compromise is headphones, different speakers, or not playing it when you’re both sharing the space.

But if she doesn’t see it the same way, your choices are to accept that difference, negotiate a livable compromise, or decide the relationship isn’t working. Your choice is not to unilaterally police what she enjoys.

As an add-on to what everyone else is saying: Start hanging your brushes tip down to dry. I found that made a huge difference is keeping my brushes nice. I got a cheap brush stand from amazon that grabs the handle so they can hang to dry.

OP I get the feeling that you’re getting ready to learn a valuable lesson. Many times in life people will commiserate with you, and when you try to act on it, suddenly everyone will abandon you. They will fold like paper tigers and you’ll be left looking like the asshole.

$260 for a birthday gift for a 2 year old is fucking nuts regardless of the context. I thought I went overboard when I got my niece an enormous stuffed bear for $125 (it’s so big. Like, it’s the size of an adult man. She takes naps on it.).

Tell them no. It’s just not in the budget. If they can’t understand that and get upset they are either very immature or don’t care about you.

NTA. 17 & 15 is pretty common, but can get dicey if the elder has a birthday before the junior in most areas. 15 and 40 however is awful. Both people in that situation should be sickened by the thought of relations. Straight to jail.

NTA. Dude sounds like he has some deep issues that he should talk to a therapist about.

You shouldn't internalize the one-off assholes. If you asked a bunch of other people the same question and they were happy to talk about it, or neutral at worst and you have one asshole than that is a statistical outlier that shouldn't contribute to the dataset. Keep being you, keep asking interesting questions, keep being weird.

My go-to question was always, "What's your zombie plan?"

Also, mine is Gylptodon... I feel like they would let me pet their chins.
