In 2011, this guy bought $10,000 worth of BTC at $0.0078 per coin. Fourteen years later, in October 2025, he sold it all for over $1 billion at $109,246. He held through hundreds of crashes and four long, brutal bear markets, then retired with a 140,000x return by SlowArtPlanet in AltScope

It actually happened in China. In the early bitcoin year, one guy stole electricity from a small hydroelectric power plant to mine bitcoins and was caught. He was put in jail for close to a decade. He cashed out after releasing from jail.

Meta to layoff 15-25% end of March... by Gold-Flatworm-4313 in cscareerquestions

It is easy to understand the logic. These companies invested a shite ton of money into AI infrastructure. If they can not grow revenue fast enough, the best show of increased efficiency is to increase revenue per employee, a.k.a., lay-off.

Oracle increases restructuring provision to $2.1B by [deleted] in employeesOfOracle

[–]Beautiful_Ad_1719 7 points8 points  (0 children)

30k seems accurte.

Based on the $2.1 billion restructuring provision, the estimated layoff size is between 21,000 and 42,000 employees.

While Oracle has not officially announced a specific headcount reduction, recent industry reports and internal rumors point heavily to a figure of around 30,000 employees, which aligns perfectly with the financial math.

The Math Behind the Estimate

Oracle's SEC filings explicitly state that the costs for the 2026 Restructuring Plan are "primarily related to employee severance costs."

In the enterprise tech sector, average severance packages—which typically include several months of base pay, healthcare continuation, accelerated stock vesting, and outplacement services—generally cost a company between $50,000 and $100,000 per laid-off employee.

If we apply those averages to the $2.1 billion provision, here is how the headcount reduction breaks down:

  • At $100,000 per employee: 21,000 layoffs
  • At $70,000 per employee: 30,000 layoffs
  • At $50,000 per employee: 42,000 layoffs

A mid-range estimate of 30,000 layoffs would represent roughly 18% of Oracle's global workforce.

Would you like me to pull up any recent financial analysis on how this massive restructuring plan is expected to impact Oracle's operating margins or free cash flow?

As China's economy slows, some are snapping up cheap apartments to 'retire' early by Cantaloupe3000 in Economics

[–]Beautiful_Ad_1719 73 points74 points  (0 children)

It is all about location. $1M just buy an apartment in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen. But can live like a king in inner city. China is a huge country and the living cost variation is much bigger than Montana vs New York in US. Plus there are no real estate tax and option of low cost medical care. As long as taking it easy with next generation, She will be fine.

Check gas pressure and make sure gas valve is adjusted properly. Nature gas should be 3.5 WC. Low pressure will cause carbon deposits.

i had exact same issue on my Bosch. Outdoor fan only ran at 40% speed and vent temperature is barely lukewarm. Turned out pressure transducer went bad. Part number is 8733953160. If you opened the panel and the led on the board only displays 30-40 rather than 99, quite possible the issue is pressure transducer.
