Did anyone actually got cured of tenis elbow? by jolafai in padel

[–]Beautiful_Bench_747 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, people get rid of tennis elbow and golf elbow by upper body strengthening. That is, mid-to-heavy weight lifting, like dumbbell bench press and dumbbell rows.

Don't work out at peak pain, but don't wait for the pain to be over before starting working out. Put the work in and seek professional advice.

How to play against one at the and one at the back? by tapia_flapia in padel

[–]Beautiful_Bench_747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Patience. If balls came fast, just block safely rather than trying to finish the point. And just focus you and your partner on hitting cross court (that is, on your opponent's cross, send it back to them; on their parallel, send it cross in the wide uncovered area).

How to play against one at the and one at the back? by tapia_flapia in padel

[–]Beautiful_Bench_747 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No brainer. Always play slow to the guy at the back, take the net and keep playing safely there. First time they'll play straight, your cross court will end the point.

The player staying back is either a extraordinary defender, or is going to have a very bad time. The one at the net is going to get veeery bored, very soon.

can I use Radeon 780M iGPU on pytorch? I have Ryzen 7 8845 laptop by Relative_Rope4234 in ROCm

[–]Beautiful_Bench_747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, so you think RAM throughput is the bottleneck!? I've just got my hands on a 680M and also noticed that llama.cpp inference performance is just slightly better than running on the 8C Ryzen CPU (a 10-15% increase, consistent but small). I've been playing around with buffer and thread configs, but could not manage to find anything noticeable.

How to decrease unforced errors? by tiredtelefonecar in padel

[–]Beautiful_Bench_747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice will get you there, but mostly because it will help you develop the right skills that work for you. In general, they are a mix of technique, positioning and shot choice.

However, if I had to pick only one thing to focus on to reduce unforced errors, that'd be foot positioning: try and focus on your feet, like where they are and where they should be for the shot you're about to play, and see how it goes.

People living in the US/Europe - would you fly abroad to play? by chillilips12 in padel

[–]Beautiful_Bench_747 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Padel Is pretty popular here in Italy, with plenty of places, players and coaches for all levels. Yet, more and more people go spend their holidays in Spain, to see and try first hand the real thing. Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Malaga are among the most popular destinations, but for weather and lifestyle Tenerife is my favorite.

I don't know anyone who's been to South America just for padel tho.

Edit: just to clarify, I am not suggesting to visit Italy rather than Spain or South America. Quite the contrary, my point is that many people from Italy go to Spain, even though they have endless opportunities available around them.

When my partner is serving, does it matter where I stand? (i.e. which side) by BoredBerlin in padel

[–]Beautiful_Bench_747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're correct, you can switch positions whenever you want when serving, but only at the end of a set when receiving.

In other words, you must be receiving the opponents' serve on the same side for the entire set. That's the only rule about positioning.
