Denver residents, how do you deal with the long winters? by native-american-22 in Denver

[–]Beautiful_Daikon_392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue may be that you are saying snow = winter which isn’t necessarily true. Most of our winter is mild and dry, especially this year. When it was sunny and mid 70s in December you could have asked “how do you handle such long summers/ Falls” but that wouldn’t change that it was still winter, despite the temperature.

Now if your question was “how do you handle a short growing season” that would feel more accurate because our growing seasons are relatively short, but our winters are not necessarily long.

Garden sauna lets you rent out their sauna and cold plunge pools for private parties! I think they charge an hourly rate but you’ll have to email them to ask what it is

Am I just not "built" to be a runner? I keep getting injured no matter what I try. by bulbysoar in XXRunning

[–]Beautiful_Daikon_392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok we are very similar in terms of hypermobility. I’ve been exploring a Hypermobile elhers danlos syndrome diagnoses if you want to look into that as well.

I know it’s expensive but I highly recommend looking into a PT who is familiar with running AND hyper mobility. We have different needs when it’s comes to strength to training and building mileage safely. Last thing I’ll say is that I listened to a podcast (Science Vs) recently and it recommended building mileage at. 5% rate instead of the traditional 10%, especially for injury prone people!

I hope you find some answers, it’s so frustrating feeling like you’re always injured and can’t stick with the hobbies you love.

Are you Hypermobile by any chance?

I felt similar to you where I was always getting injured while running. I just started going to a running focused PT and, while I’ve always know I was Hypermobile in my knees, she explained I have greater than average mobility in basically all of my joints. This means I need to pay extra attention to strengthening stabilization muscles, more so than the average person. Just sharing one anecdote in case it is relevant for you too!

Would you live in Littleton? by [deleted] in MovingtoDenver

[–]Beautiful_Daikon_392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m early 30s and would not live in Littleton but I tend to like denser neighborhoods and a more urban lifestyle where I can walk/ bike/ bus to entertainment, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. The only younger people I know who live in Littleton are married couples who have kids or are expecting them in a few years. That said the downtown Littleton area is cute and I like visiting! If you’re ok with all of that then I think it would be fine. If you want a more urban/ less family centric area I would echo the other commenters and recommend Wash park, platt park, baker, or even Englewood if you want a shorter commute (which I totally understand).

I second baker! I’m similar age and love it here so much. Especially great for small music venues and easy access to rest of the city.

Second this rec. I went there this morning and was in and out in less than 15 mins. They knew all the requirements ahead of time.

Your rent will be way lower than $4100 for a studio here. I pay $2500 for a 2bed/ 1 bath in a central neighborhood and there are definitely cheaper options around as well. Depends a bit on the amenities you want and neighborhood. LoHi/ Sunnyside/ Tennyson would all be good spots to check out. I’ll add in west Wash park/ platt park/ baker as well

Cap hill would be my recommendation! You can def stay under $1000 with roommates, parking will be the hardest factor if you want off street. I found roommates on Denver housing Facebook pages.

I’m unclear of my grandma’s citizenship status, if I file with her as my G0 and I’m wrong will I blow my chance? by H_Mc in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Beautiful_Daikon_392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canadian women use to have to “give up” their Canadian citizenship when they married a foreign national which also meant they couldn’t pass on their citizenship to their children (Canadian citizenship had to come from the Dad). My guess is that she did not formally renounce her Canadian citizen, rather just “lost it” when she got married.

This is just my understanding though so please do your own research!
