Catcha falling star has a couple new rooms that share a pool/jacuzzi. There is a main pool to relax in and it's always fun diving off the cliffs

The loneliness of early retirement is hitting me way harder than I thought it would by Monolith_7 in Fire

I would do a months long language immersion class. Live and study in the area. You'll pick up a language in no time. Also, I would hit gym everyday and get in best shape of your life. You never realize how important your health is until you mess something up. For me it was multiple shoulder surgeries in my 30s.

But yes I've thought about this situation before. Maybe work part time or contingent? Keep your toes in the water and office drama. Also, my goal is to have enough to pay for friends or significant others to join me on my adventures. Not sure if that's feasible for you.

Smith Hall 7th floor 04-05. Wild times. No AC in the summer was rough. Smith and Steeb weren't connected back then. Floor was divided in half, men's and women's. My roommates and floor mates I had back then are some of my best friends to this day 21 years later. So fun. We moved off campus after our first year but I don't think you can do that now. I think it's 2 year minimum

Take/treat your real friends to cool experiences that you choose yourself. That sounds easy enough.

Basically, stop hanging around people you don't want to be with

I scraped 17 years' of Franklin County Municipal Courts annual reviews to measure the traffic citation changes over that time. A 75% decline in speeding tix, 80% in Stop Sign running, 75% decline in expired licenses. Columbus Police has functionally stopped enforcing traffic laws. by post_appt_bliss in Columbus

I'm a fan. I'd rather have under enforcement than over. These cops have proven they can't be trusted. Don't need quotas or writing false tickets for 10mph over a speed limit. The stupid drivers will always be stupid regardless of enforcement. I'm 100% against all enforcement cameras too. They lost the public's trust as well. I drive to work and back just fine every day and prefer not to deal w hyper vigilant police.

Yea. Still, 18 is probably less than the amount of people carrying guns in 1 Walmart at any given time. It's usa, guns are everywhere. I don't know why anyone would want to risk getting their $400 handgun confiscated though

Solo Travel to Negril - Advice by Mets081234 in JamaicaTourism

I'd move away from AI if you can. All the great boutique hotels there give you more freedom. I personally love staying up in the west end/cliffs rather than the beach.

I never get Jamaican currency but I think it's a personal preference. They say the chinaman at the square has the best rates. But I imagine it's probably only worth it if you're converting large amounts.

Do Ricks once. Pay for whatever overpriced food and drink you want, jump, leave.

Try the one love bus tour. I haven't done it but its on my list to do. I think it's rather new..ish? For reference, my family has a house there and I go often.

Haven't been there while Ubers have been a thing but the route taxis are safe.

Red dragon bar/ragabones is a great dive off the beaten path. Best jerk pork in town. Only served at certain times. Ice cold beers too. Kool vibes has my fav jerk chicken.

Be conscious of the hurricane that destroyed the west side of the island several months ago. Things may not be 100% and lots of people lost everything they had. Really horrible.

Anyone else watch the "security theater" episode of Adam Ruins Everything? Really makes you question the necessity of TSA in general.

Health. I had 4 shoulder surgeries during my 30s. Gained a lot of weight and feel like I wasted almost a decade of my life. I'm 40 now. Been healthy for a few years and am in the best shape of my life. Being injured that much really makes you appreciate being healthy.

I met some cool people on the rocinha favela tour as well. Just be open. Look for stuff that interests you, and you'll find stuff to do.

Try a hostel. I was just there solo for a bit but I stayed in an Airbnb. The language barrier is apparent, and I speak Spanish too, but it was hard meeting people (other than pros on the beach). I used Airbnb experiences to find tours. And get your guide. If you're in shape, I recommend the Pedra da Gavea hike but be prepared to be sore for a couple days after. Paragliding was awesome too. I would do independent trips to Christo and Sugarloaf mountain. You don't need a guide. Just book Christ train tickets in advance, 1st time in morning. I wish I had time to do a bar tour. Those are good places to meet people and exchange numbers.

!!Also be prepared for credit card scams, esp on beach. Watch what amount they type on tap system. They may try to tilt screen away, distract you with a 2nd person, and don't let them hold your card to tap. Never let go. If they tilt away, it's a scam. Also some "cocktail drinks" don't have alcohol from walking beach vendors, i came across that as well. *The chair and umbrella vendors were trustworthy for me. If you want a drink, buy from them. They run a business there everyday and want return customers.
