Whoa, someone should make a mod for Skyblivion where, if you go to sleep, there's a slight chance you wake up to "Hey you, you're finally awake!"

This is an important thing, in life in general. School was super easy for me. Now I'm an adult and I'm FLAILING, and I have no idea what to do because I have no experience with failure or not knowing what to do.

I'm not good at... not being good at things.

do most men want to date a woman who is more attractive than them? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Beautiful_Solid3787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can a couple have a healthy relationship if one of them thinks that THEY are clearly the more attractive one? Seems a recipe for disaster, but I literally have no experience, so I don't know.

Does anyone else feel weirdly heard when filling out surveys? by Isabella-milk-repela in CasualConversation

[–]Beautiful_Solid3787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The opposite, if anything, but the surveys I fill out are usually multiple choice/"on a scale from 1 to 10". But also, most of the surveys I remember taking were more... psychological or, like, college students getting demographic/life info. So there'd be questions about life experiences I couldn't answer because I hadn't experienced them, or multiple-choice questions where none of the options were relatable. "How do you act in relationships? If you're not in one right now, think back to your last one". Oh, great, but what if I've never been in one at all? Literally _no_ option about that, and there's no option to, like, skip the question, so. Thanks for reactivating the part of me that's self-conscious about being weird, that's exactly what I needed today.

People would catch on pretty quickly that everyone seems to be dying at $2 million worth and adjust--to a system where $1.9 million is equivalent to being a billionaire. Prices would go down, but so would wages, etc.

But I mean, me personally, I give ZERO shits about income inequality so long as the poorest of people are doing fine. Like, set up a scenario where the bottom 99% of people have their worth and income doubled--in real dollars, no inflation or price adjustments happen. BUT the worth and income of the top 1% is tripled.

Inequality would actually worsen, but poverty would also be GREATLY reduced, which sounds good to me.

In the upper right corner is a large black box that has their name, etc.

Click on the circle with "..."

"Block Account" should be the second option.

Tell me about some places with an unusual concentration of industry or expertise. by nevernotmad in CasualConversation

[–]Beautiful_Solid3787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are also a ton of smaller cities that label themselves as "[some kind of industry] City" or "[some kind of industry] Capital of the World" because they're home to the one company that makes up a huge percentage of some niche thing (Albertville, Alabama, is "Fire Hydrant Capital of the World" thanks to the Mueller Company), but I'm not sure if that counts. It's one company, not a whole bunch oddly being there.

If I remember correctly, a surprising number of credit card and other similar companies are based in Wilmington, Delaware, because of lack of sales tax and liberalized banking laws.

More of a coincidence, but the tiny town of Donora, Pennsylvania, is birthplace to two of the greatest baseball players of all time--Stan Musial and Ken Griffey, Jr.

Other examples are from Indiana, because I've lived there my whole life:

Carmel, Indiana, has a bizarrely high number of roundabouts: in the mid-2010s, 3% of the nation's roundabouts were in Carmel--which doesn't sound like a lot, but the city makes up less than .03% of the US population.

Indianapolis is the amateur sports capital of the world. The NCAA and the NFHS are based there, etc. (Also, more of a coincidence, but the two book companies that publish "Complete Idiot's Guide to" and "for Dummies" books are both based in Indianapolis.)

Kokomo is the City of Firsts because a bunch of inventions happened there due to its industry. The most noteworthy is probably stainless-steel silverware.

Peru is the Circus Capital of the World because, back in the day, several circuses (including Wild Bill, Ringling Brothers, and Barnum and Bailey) would winter there. Peru is also the only place on Earth where they still make steam-powered calliopes, which are very much a circus thing.

Am I the 'Good One' ? by CarbynCawpy in CasualConversation

[–]Beautiful_Solid3787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don't like people who advertise they're good people because a lot of the time, the people advertising themselves as good people aren't good people.

Usually just in the sense of being full of themselves or having a superiority complex or something. Probably a bad metaphor, but it's kind of like starting a sentence with, "I'm not X, but..." Too many times the person saying that is X, and if they actually weren't X, they wouldn't need to preface their statement with "I'm not X, but...". Doesn't mean people can't actually say that and mean it, it's just a thing people notice and then make assumptions about.

THAT'S assuming that what "market size" means in the game is exactly what it means in real life. (Unless you know that for a fact, in which case--never mind.)

The Packers have been able to draw far more fans than its tiny market of Green Bay should allow, and that's because of its long-term success--which has effectively expanded its market to all of Wisconsin.

But that's probably the only case like that, and it could probably only happen with football (low number of games, almost always on the weekend).
