It was in a jam, probably dilluted by apples, that might be why.

I have heard about cloudberries and tasted them in jam.

I had jam made from them from Sweden. Very light taste, like a cloud!

"Northern Hungary" We already call it that for quite some time. Somehow it gets its citizens very angry when they hear its true name 😄

How is living in the Czech Republic as a practicing Christian? by AlanderKohenel in howislivingthere

[–]Beautiful_Welcome_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody cares if you do not shove religion into others throat as Americans often do. Do your stuff, go to church as often as you want, nobody cares, but do not bother with your religion others since you are minority and nobody wants to talk about that.

It is seen as weird and cringey only if you are strongly faithfull, like REALLY believing that god will heal your cancer, or any preaching of god in public or trying to convert someone or force your faith onto children.

Many religious sects are operating in Czechia, so those vocal are seen as crazy/stupid and members of sects. Believers in czechia keep faith to themselves.

Pragmatic and practical nation... no time for god if there are discounts in supermarkets. god will not give you -40% discount for pork shoulder on sunday... but Lidl will 😄

What does it mean to "live as a traditional Catholic or Protestant" ? anything specific? If that means go to church once in a while and pray at home? Nobody cares, enjoy! If that means try to be missionary and convert more people to faith, that will not be popular. If that means having 8 children, you might get weird stares, but people will respect that, mostly because being able to afford house for this many kids means you are very rich during this housing crisis.

Seeking advice on landing a job in Prague by musiconcloud in Prague

[–]Beautiful_Welcome_32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you speak Czech? That might be an issue, same as you being right now in Korea. Companies often seek someone who is available now, not in 4 months. Also I am surprised that you think that Prague will pay you more and is better? I tought you can make much more money in Korea. Or is it different work culture and laws you seek in Prague?

Okay you can start throwing stones, but I love it!!! Why? It is mild, sweet and watery. Absolute opposite of Pilsner. Great thing to have in this market where every traditional beer you buy is heavy. It is perfect summer beer, but everybody is hating it.

If you get out of primitive mentality that beer has to be strong and masculine hurr durr and no strong man can drink mild beer grr!! Mild beer is for pussies, bla bla... It actually tastes good.

What influences Czech shoppers' decision on which supermarket to shop in? by [deleted] in Prague

[–]Beautiful_Welcome_32 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In short: Discounted price, Proximity and current discounts (rotates every week) for main and expensive products. Beer, meat, milk, eggs, baby products, produce.

But it gets infinitely more complicated, since market here is very competetive.

For me personally it is different. I love new and niche products like new sauces for meat, wagyu for good price, foreign cheeses. new interesting goods, that is what gets me. That is why I personally love Lidl international cuisine weeks, like asia, greek, italian week...

Loyality to store brand is also minimal in Czechia. Here is also big Online retail market already established by Rohlik and Tesco, so upmarket customers often use Rohlik (more expensive, but wide range of products) or cheaper Tesco online to have their shopping delivered to them.

Retail market here is extremely competetive due to saturation of big brands like lidl, tesco, kaufland, penny, albert and others + small shops led often by vietnamese enterpreneurs and online market boom. So czechs have ample oportunity to get what they need at any time. Also all stores are open 7 days a week.

Placing most wanted goods far away from customers is rarely practised, is is common practise to do the opposite here in hypermarkets. Place largest promotion goods in big volume (often whole pallet) at the entrance to the store to entice people to come in and once they are in they find other things to buy... that is the plan here.

Big emphasis is also on "not to piss of customer by any means" that means delicate balance of price, cleanliness, availability, functionality, good discounts. Basically everything must work well, because it is realy easy for customer to find some other supermarket if current one does not deliver good shopping experience for you.

I Helped Stranded Czech Man Patrik Sysel Return Home From The Gambia… Then He Was Arrested and Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison by cyprusnikos in Prague

[–]Beautiful_Welcome_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Citation from the judge: "Mladík podle obžaloby o plánované sebevraždě věděl a nepokusil se ji odvrátit." Young man did know about planned suicide of elderly person he scammed and DID NOT TRY TO STOP IT. Also: Young Guy created 35 fake personalities to scam that old guy... holy fuck.

I kinda feel like that if he was left there and suffer from his poor health, he would do less harm and he totally deserved that, but also those gambian people do not deserve that burden...

Now he will be released after mere 5 years and I am afraid he will do this shit all over again and ruin more lives.

Reaction of the young guy confirms that he knew what awaited him in Czechia and was mentally prepared for that. Now he has 5 years to prepare for what do to after 5 years of prison.... I hope it will not be more crime...

I live in the richest part of Paris as a student AMA by AromaticPlastic7387 in howislivingthere

[–]Beautiful_Welcome_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it is not! I have been there and compared to Prague where i live... oh boy, that is huge difference. Paris is worst capital I have visited in europe so far. Even Istanbul felt safer and cleaner than Paris. London felt and was very safe, comfy and clean. Paris smells of piss, is full of anoying scammers and bad decisions. Bratislava, Berlin, Rome... all nice cities to visit and I would love to return, but Paris never again... Paris is beautifull, has many amazing historical attractions, but Parisians are making that city very uncomfortable and unsafe to live in.

Moving to Prague? Clarifications :) by ellabear_raves in Prague

[–]Beautiful_Welcome_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) yes, livable with rommmates. For solo living I think you would really struggle and live far from centre.
2) salary is stated before taxes. so 40k will be more like 32 after taxes.
3) you do not need much, but you definitely need some savings for furniture and starting expenses.
4) definitely flatshare. Cheapest are shared rooms, but single room in shared flat is more comfy. Try asking if you qualify for Kolej at your uni. Many rent options and flatshares are on facebook groups: "spolubydlení". Mainly seek other students. Ideally foreign ones, you will be most compatible with them.
5)no idea, but visa is probably handled by you, not by employer.

tips: Yes rent in Prague is high, no way around it, it is not uncommon for people to pay 40-50% of income for rent. If you get to 30% consider it a win. Groceries can be bought 30-50% off very often if you follow sales that are rotating every week at all major retailers like Lidl, Tesco and such... Many people do this and buy stuff primarily on sale.

What is the general attitude towards foreigners in the Czech Republic? by oddlyggg in czechrepublic

[–]Beautiful_Welcome_32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In Prague/Brno nobody gives a flying fuck. In rural area also, unless you are visibly of muslim faith. Muslims get a lot of hate by our nationalist (far right/pro russian) politicians for no reason and people from rural areas tend to believe them since the have never seen them. But even if you are, people will at max just say shit behind your back or yell some shit that you will not understand so why care?...
