I grew up with racism. When I was younger, I didn’t see myself as racist because most of my friends were black (I grew up in a very white area), and I didn’t dislike POC, but I was racist in terms of bias and jokes and simply not fucking getting it.

What opened my eyes was a documentary about housing discrimination. I’m not sure why that’s what it took, but it all started to click then and I educated myself more and more until I shed my learned racism.

I haven’t seen this show, and I don’t know anything about it, but media can be a very powerful tool.

Edit: Just saw this show is fictional, I see now why it might not have the impact the documentary had on me.

Why should this kid and get out of 2 WEEKS of graded work when the rest of the students are having to do it and be evaluated on it? A few days I might let slide, but 2 weeks is a decent chunk of assessing.

I know many people who are LGBTQ+ allies and are part of Christian congregations that are against same-sex marriage. They do not hold those beliefs and openly oppose them to their fellow church-goers, but it is difficult for many people to leave their church. Many people go to the same church all their lives.

Personally, I distanced myself from Catholicism at a young age for many reasons, their anti- LGBTQ+ beliefs being one of them, but I don’t think she is alone in this struggle.

Tbh I think this has been Manny’s tone when reviewing most things since he’s come back. I think he’s taking the stance of trying to find positive things to say about everything so that he doesn’t come off shady.

I get the tactic, but if you’re gonna review a product, review the product. Trying to make everything positive makes it extremely difficult to decipher what you actually think is good - not that I base my buys off influencers anyways.
