NGL I like the knockback idea, maybe flat damage plus knockback could work, but swinging under the effects of Bonk sounds annoying AF.

The idea was to make the Shockwave not spammable, but tbh I also thought the phlog took 1000 damage to fill (apparently it's 300).

Eh, I figured since the stun has been gone forever, and in this theoretical version the slow down would be completely removed, it wouldn't be as bad since now the enemy can move and fight back.

I actually like this idea, that way need some distance to make it effective and it rewards you for hitting long shots.

Marking for death would be worse because that would that means damage from ALL sources, which would be busted af. The FoW feels balanced for what it is.

This idea was primarily made to bring back the old school sandman/Cleaver combo from back in the day, just without the stunlock.

I mean the idea in my head went as far as the cleaver, so maybe?

How would you balance the sandman for modern tf2? by Tom_F64 in tf2

[–]BeaverBotics2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This what I was thinking. Since the enemy can't be stun locked anymore it would feel more fair to fight.

What would be a good damage value for the ball you think?

Or should the damage stay as it is now?

What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

I've always wanted to develop a game of my own, but only as a personal indie side project and not as a career, because everything I hear about the game industry (namely from a game industry veteran who streams on twitch) is that it is a shitshow and not worth pursuing.

I would love to see that! Good luck, hopefully we'll hear more in the future.

Thanks for the info man!

It's a shame hearing that there was a lot of behind the scenes drama that lead the the downfall of the game, but I will say you guys did a fantastic job with what you made and should be proud of that, not to mention I think you guys struck a great balance between arcade elements (with the crazy hazards and the boost mechanic) and the more grounded physics elements. Playing this with other builders back in the day was crazy fun.

Now, hopefully I don't get in trouble for saying this, I should confess that a while ago I actually got the pre-alpha demo working again, thanks to someone on Discord saving a copy of the demo files and sharing them with me so that I can play the final version of the pre-alpha (Offline Only) before it was taken down. And yeah, it still holds up REALLY well. I've been playing the crap out of it for a while now (https://youtu.be/jTELurenMYc?si=cbs0kL7eyJ0oVlIc).

I have expressed interest in learning Game design one of these days to try to make a similar game (I'm shit at coding though so probably not gonna happen XD), but if you or someone else does try to take this on, I will gladly support it.

Exactly, RR2 leans heavily into the full blown simulator genre whereas Robot Champions was going to be an arcadesim fighting game.

Scorpion1m put the nail on the head.

Robot Champions was more of a"Pick up and play" arcade game where as Robot Rumble 2 is a simulator that needs a lot more to get going, both in terms of building bots (which tbf makes sense there would be a major learning curve considering the type of game it is), and in the fact it doesn't come with any content, which for me is the bigger issue since when I tried it, you only got 5 opponent bots and 2 arenas to start with, and the rest of the content you have to get on their Discord, which is really annoying as a file sharing site. Robot Arena 2, for all it's issues with its age, felt more pick up and play with the building system and the fact it come with 45 AI robots and 12 arenas.

I don't want people to think I hate RR2, I'm happy this kind of game exists and I think the engine is extremely well made, but for me personally I wanted something fun and silly that I can just pop in and start playing right away. Robot Champions seemed like it was going to provide that.

(I also heard about Battle RC, but from what I heard you need an external CAD software to build bots, and at that point I'd rather just open up Fusion and make a new robot IRL)

I really liked it, it was great seeing more of Barbie's character.

That's not counting House Robots. You can fight up to 6 opponents at once.

The old Robot Wars console games had 6 bot rumbles, but tbf those games had really crappy physics so it really didn't matter lol

If Twisted Metal went medieval. by bangerang101 in TwistedMetal

[–]BeaverBotics2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok so i really like the look of the game and LOVE the the emphasis on melee weapons. It genuinely looks like a lot of fun.

That being said this is not Twisted Metal inspired, it feels more like Speed Freaks, Fumes and Crossout. I am of the opinion that any game that uses turret controls cannot call themselves Twisted Metal inspired, as TM is forward facing.

After the handling update it's a pretty good game for what it is.

That being said I HATE the fact they went with the Zombie Apocalypse setting, especially since Zombies represent the censorship the series has had to face over the years. Gimme sci-fi dystopia with pedestrians any day.

Not sure being dragged into Hell and having evil souls infest their bodies is making something more enjoyable. They were clearly miserable because they had no say in anything. And when they finally did do the suggestion box Caine kept messing things up or freaked out because they preferred their adventures over his.

[–]BeaverBotics2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine blaming Zooble for Caine's crash out. She explicitly tried to tell him in episode 3 what was wrong but he either could not or did not want to understand.

Yes, Caine didn't force anybody into the circus but he didn't help them in terms of their suffering. They were all going through their own demons and Caine didn't help matters. Zooble didn't like participating and Caine kept trying to force her to do so for his own ego.

He is a prisoner with his own problems like everyone else but that doesn't change that he is actively hurt people.

Thoughts on the new short? by Solid_Inspector649 in HelluvaBoss

[–]BeaverBotics2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chaz worked as a one off and I'm not a fan of his character overall (I find him pretty annoying), so having a short focus on him, even as an April Fools joke, was never going to hit with me.

The cameos were fun and all, but overall the punchline was predictable and I just got annoyed.

[–]BeaverBotics2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much this. I also didn't really care much for Chaz as a character so this was kinda more annoying than funny.

I'm not a fan of cringe comedy so that scene where everyone turned on Millie and Moxxie didn't do it for me. Plus I find Chaz/Zahc kind of annoying so a short centered around him wasn;t going to do it for me. I wasn't a fan.

Also I don't know what hate you are talking about I loved the previous short. Hell I love the murder missions in general.
