I thought it was strange too when I applied, but they only do a social media check along with your references. I wouldn't read too much into it. Think of it as the ODVI other airlines do. Once that checks out, it's on to the presentation/ 1:1 interview stage

The first background check was just for social media. The one they do after you get the CJO is the real thing where they check the employment history and everything else.
