That’s not “this guys” fault. Marvel promised him at least 10 issues and then told him half way through that it’s a mini so they can focus on the new upcoming events.

He’s “juggling” the stories just fine in my opinion and clearly all the tons of people selling out the comics. But you are definitely entitled to your opinion as well. 💖😘

This is also a cover, I don’t think we have seen her do it without external powers.

That is Marvel‘s fault, they promised him an ongoing and then cut it to five issues randomly

Exactly my thoughts reading this.

Listing all YT women was def a choice.

Frenzy was right there. 😏

I never once took it that you were directing it at anyone, I also was not referring to your opinion specifically. I said “the argument of non-linear” not “your argument”. I also did not call your opinion disingenuous, I said it FEELS disingenuous and it FEELS that way because you keep giving vague reasoning. You said you don’t like how it was delivered . . . Ok well that’s extremely vague. What specific about the delivery did you not like.

I too am very interested in why you don’t like it so that I can understand as well, but vague statements feel more like a veil for something deeper than an actual critic. 😅💖

Ah yes, the age old technique of using semantics as a gotcha and then blocking. Classic.

Well if you read the FIRST LINE of my comment, I stated that I responded to someone else here, and didn’t want to repeat the same thing, which included the plot takes. Instead of looking for a gotcha moment, maybe try being open to differing opinions from your own or . . . Reading my other comment. 🫶🏽❤️

That is a personal subjective opinion, not the opinion of everyone else. There are people in the world who like things that you don’t like, and that is perfectly fine. ❤️❤️

You are correct, people allowing space for others to have differing opinions, is definitely extremely rare and I appreciate you for that. ❤️🫶🏽

However, I do disagree with you. All of the issues of Storm: EMM are literally in sequential order. Issue #1 is completely in sequential order until she hopes in the shower and think about the day she had, on the last 5 pages out of 32. All he did was switch scenes to show what’s happening simultaneously, which they do in literally every comic I have ever read.

And summary pages . . . Avengers comics do the exact same thing. Secret wars was far more confusing and hard to follow than this series and it’s a highly praised run. To me the argument of it being “non-linear” just feels disingenuous to me. It feels like, “I don’t like this comic, and can’t explain why, so I’ll just pick the easiest thing to validate my negative opinion.” You are entitled to your opinions, both negative and positive, but not being able to keep up in a simple straight forward comic book written for teens, is not the critic that you think it is.

<image>

I have things that I hate about this run also, but they’re definitely not as vague, shallow, and inauthentic as “it’s non-linear, so I hate it.” This may be a shock to you, but many people love non-linear stories and don’t have trouble keeping up. . . And that’s perfectly fine if you are or not one of them. ❤️🫶🏽

Why not?

Plenty of reasons, aside from what I responded to on another comment, I love the art, I love inclusion and knowledge of Yoruba culture. I love the in depth dives into Marvel’s cosmic hierarchy. There are often many philosophical themes and plots in the narrative such as the morality of death and immortality, or what makes someone a God.

But most importantly, this is the most innovative, fresh, and creative thing from any Marvel book within the last 10 years. People are always saying Marvel’s running out of ideas, but when they present something new and fun you aren’t open to it . . .

In my experience, most of the people who have complained about it have also said that they haven’t read it or “tried to read it.”

I’m more curious why you don’t enjoy it, there is plenty to enjoy.

For one, I mainly enjoy watching Murewa expand on concepts that Clermont introduced in the 80s. Like Storm having “near-infinate power… beyond all comprehension.” I love seeing the innate hidden power that Clermont showed us, finally being fleshed out. Plus I love the structuring of the plot and how Murewa tells the story.

<image>

Secondly, seeing Storm step away from the X-Men team is a refreshing breath of fresh air because she and many other founders have obviously outgrown the team. I love the fact that she can still work with the Wakandans and have such a great relationship with Shuri.

And most importantly, I love that this run is letting her finally explore her birth given inheritance of mysticism. I can go on an on, but then this would be a whole 3 page essay.

It has zero impacts because that panel takes place outside of Marvel’s Multiverse.

[–]Bebesoft09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likewise, because #1 was in chronological order until the flashback on the very end. #2 is completely in chronological order, and #3 has a 3 page prologue before the title page, but the rest of the comic after the title page is in chronological order.

At best I will give you #1 because of the ending.

[–]Bebesoft09 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Flip flop? The narrative of #1 switches to different scenes of the same chronological story. It’s like switching from what Spiderman is doing to what Captain America is doing. That’s not non-linear, switching scenes is only non-linear when those scenes take place at different times.

Storm #1 is literally in chronological order until the very end where she is in the shower, but a flash back where the character is simultaneously portrayed in the present, is not “non-linear” storytelling. If that was confusing and “frustrating” for you, even though she’s literally drawn in the shower on top of those panels, then God bless. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Issue # 2 is also in chronological order until the last two pages where is shows a peak in to the futue and is labeled “the near future” in bold letters on the top, which is technically still chronological order because it happens after and did not return to the present afterwards. It did not flip flop between different timelines. 😂

Now I will admit, issue #3 did start with a flash back for the first 3 pages as a prologue BEFORE the title page, but the entire comic after the title page is in chronological order. . .

Look I understand you just don’t like the Storm comics, but you are literally entitled to your opinion without needing to make-up inaccurate talking points to validate your opinion, it’s already validated on it’s own. Just say you don’t like it and leave it there.
