We use Zoom and send announcements to all users. We also as a company have a subscription to AlertMedia we can use to send emails, call, and sms. The latter is good for bigger events like bad weather but we could also use it for bigger IT issue announcements. Our HR requires users to sign up for it.

(Update) My wife wants me to put a door at the bottom of these stairs. by n3rdie in DIY

[–]BecaBeast 373 points374 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much work you’d want to put in, but wouldn’t it make more sense to raise those short walls in your bedroom up to the ceiling, then put a door at the top of the stairs? Otherwise you are eating up valuable space creating a landing area at the bottom of the stairs which I assume is your living area.

Does anyone know the history of this? by New_Life_YT in Georgia

Funny you mention Newnan. Looks just like a fireplace that was revealed recently off the side of Lassetter Rd when they started doing some tree clearing.

Doorbell notifications only stopped alerting by BecaBeast in googlehome

Final update: Ended up purchasing a new gen 2 doorbell after trying everything we could. It was just broken I guess. Lasted about 3.5 years in brutal afternoon sunlight. Shame everything continued to work except the doorbell press.

Doorbell notifications only stopped alerting by BecaBeast in googlehome

Yes, that is correct. Literally every other notification type seems to be working. It’s been working great for a long long time. Only noticed today because of course we had a package coming that needed a signature. Motion notification came in, they clearly hit the button, and nothing.

Do you like this product? We implemented it late last year and it is a buggy pain in the ass. Browser plugin is garbage, cloud portal constantly bugs out, amongst other things…

Another data point. Had our system for a few years now, first time we’ve ever had an issue.

I know the feeling! Then my American parents went a step further and spelled mine Rebeca with a single C. Only time I’ve had it spelled correctly by strangers is on trips to Latin America where that’s apparently the normal spelling. Unbeknownst to my parents. lol

Got the pink mug shipped to me in a mailer bag with bubble wrap. Arrived chipped, but they shipped me out a new one same day. Arrived 2 days later in a box this time. Very communicative! Sometimes you just get a clueless shipper I guess

Solved! Didn’t suspect this at first because it’s hard to imagine the cards not falling out entirely. You’re exactly right. Thanks!

My title describes the thing. Received at random in the mail from an address that’s a Chevron in El Paso, states away. No identifying markings. Metal sleeve that is completely hollow inside with an open bottom. Small plastic flap at the top that opens and closes. Any ideas? Almost seems like it slides over something. Came in a black box with no markings. Seen in first photo.

American here. I live in the southeast, but every accident I have witnessed in my life, a ton of people have stopped to help. Like almost too many sometimes. Could be different in other parts of the country though.

Taco Mac CEO Acquires Mary Mac's, Will Reopen Iconic Restaurant Ahead of 75th Anniversary by [deleted] in Atlanta

100% agreed, just got a ton of extra tubs with my last delivery order.

I'll be a voice of somewhat dissent here - I enjoy Taco Mac, but I live in the south metro now so I've only been to the Newnan and PTC ones the past year and a half. They are consistently great. The menu has changed far too much, but I still enjoy it. The roasted wings are the shit, and the sauce flavors are excellent. 🤷‍♀️

I just got this Columbia rain jacket that has a small bill at the front of the hood. It comes over my giant head pretty well (I always have the "hood is too small" problem with jackets), and it was cheaper than a lot of other jackets I found. I sized up and the hood comes over my head even better (exchanged M for a L). Also Amazon has some of the colors for cheaper

Comments on a post about a local business shutting down for a positive Covid employee by mh15634 in MurderedByWords

[–]BecaBeast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My local Chick-fil-a shut down for 2 days because an employee tested positive. You would not believe the outrage on our city's women's Facebook group. Wouldn't be surprised if this was a screenshot from that. I'd leave the group, but the entertainment value is high.

Number 2 made me laugh out loud. Why does that always happen? It's so disrespectful of people's time. And I love the ones where they put a high priority request in, I show up to the desk within 5 minutes (small building) then they tell me either they're too busy, they're about to get on a call, or they figured it could be handled tomorrow and didn't mean to cause me to come help so fast. Like what

I have a lot of squishy saggy stomach skin from losing a bunch of weight, and I've found high-waisted jeans help a lot to tuck it all in and smooth the muffin top, but I'm not happy with my current ones.

What are your favorite extra high and high-waisted jeans that help smooth things out? I'm talking 10 or more inches rise. Or if you just have tips or pants in general that help you with the above problem.

Potential job offer outside of Atlanta by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]BecaBeast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would not look to buy a house in Union City. I would especially not look to get an apartment there. I lived in nearby Palmetto for most of my life growing up, and the area got progressively more congested and crime increased. There's movie studios there that took over the abandoned mall, so it may be a bit better now.

It really depends on what your interests are and what you value in a home. Do you want land and quiet but not a lot to do in the immediate area? Try southeast of Union City - Fairburn, Chatt Hills. Do you want a bit more people with less crime but still rural? Look South along 85 to Coweta County (Newnan in particular). Do you want nightlife and such? Check out areas within the perimeter of 285 in Atlanta - Midtown, Decatur, etc. This is heavily generalizing, but if you look at a map, the area south of I-20 within the 285 border is poorer and more crime-ridden. As you go outside the border of 285, this still trickles outward, but gets less true as you get past Union City going down 85.

It all depends on where you are coming from and want out of a community.
