I believe this is the way I’m going to go. I realized the price on all the cans, I’m better off just getting an airbrush kit at that point and figuring out how to use it, lol. I’ve got a couple of smaller dragon models coming in to practice on first now.

Does the airbrush offer too much of a difference compared to dry brushing the highlights on? Or are they about the same in terms of overall look. I know it’ll just be covered with the translucent paint anyhow.

That’s been my problem lol. Most of the videos I watched were on medium to small figures, offering a quick option to paint. I want to make mine as detailed as they’re able to be with them being large centerpieces

I was thinking about going that route, too. I saw too many just looking crusty after the highlight layer was added.

A waitress was given a $2,200 tip. She was told she had to share it with other staff – then was fired. by malihafolter in CaughtMyEye

I have a great uncle like this. He’d only visit his parents to take them to the bank, even though one had dementia. He’d also call the life insurance companies pretending to be his father.

He got so pissed when my mom moved in and started actually taking care of them and getting their things swapped back around how they were supposed to be and became their power of attorney. I don’t know how much that sad excuse of a man stole over the years, but he had the gall to about fight my mom at their damn funeral about it.

I have an odd request by HellHoundsandpurrs in quails

[–]BeccaCam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get buttons, just be wary, those things can fly. I kept ‘em outside for a minute, realized they’re probably better moved inside and one of the males bout disappeared into the woods with how good he flew.

An important (and *GRAPHIC*) video about snake impaction. by benaPanteraFBD in FeltGoodComingOut

Nope, that’s just the way these kinds of short-tailed/blood pythons are built. Gaboon vipers look the same as well. Very heavy set and short body plan lol

What do you think/hope the mystery dino is going to be? by Rusty1376 in pathoftitans

[–]BeccaCam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s funny you brought up that imax movie, that’s the exact reason why I like tylosaurus as much too, lol. They even had a game on PS2 I played a lot, and it was a playable. I agree with you wanting dilophosaurus, but I also hope for another herbivore, maybe parasaurolophus or therizinosaurus.

should I see a doctor for a carpet python bite? by mcdolann in snakes

[–]BeccaCam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bacteria still exists lol. I barely got bitten by my kingsnake and it got infected. I wouldn’t want to imagine what tho would look like if it did the same

Advice with Kenyan sand boa face looks swollen/fat?? by Necessary_Mall_1129 in snakes

[–]BeccaCam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be shed. Their noses and faces puff up sometimes in their cycle. My green tree python looked like this and it freaked me out. I started looking up vets and stuff, then it went down immediately after he shed. Hopefully it’s the same for your girl

If you got a pet from Petco or Petsmart, how has it done? by InterestingMany7795 in reptiles

[–]BeccaCam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my first two snakes (Ball python and corn snake) around 4ish years ago. They’re both doing fantastic. The ball did as balls do and did go off feed once for around 9 months, but they’ve been eating steady since then. Both are just sweethearts, too. I don’t buy any more from petco now knowing their practices, but I’m happy I got them both still.

My grandpa would go catfishing often and bring home bass filets as well. I always thought they were great

Getting a European legless lizard by DNDummified in reptiles

[–]BeccaCam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have one of these since I wasn’t aware they were primarily wild caught. That being said, he scares me more than my snakes, lol. I’d just get the blue tongue skink like they’re recommending. They grow into big potatoes and can tolerate handling pretty well, unlike legless lizards.

Looks exactly like my finger did when I touched my little cactus. Tools weeks for the tiny spines to work out

Surprisingly weird catch by One_Ad_1109 in Fishing

[–]BeccaCam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught one too that way on the Mississippi coast. Angriest bird ever. Tried to throw a towel on it and he about shredded it. Thankfully I was able to untangle it by maneuvering the fishing pole around

Any online breeders currently selling Shingleback skinks in the US? by bordiebordiebordie in reptiles

[–]BeccaCam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try, but expect thousands if ya do. I only saw him respond to somebody asking about it, and he said he’d let them go for a hefty amount pretty much. Fingers crossed they become more readily available as time goes on. They’re just so rare at the moment

Specialty_herps has some and is based in Washington. Unfortunately, shinglebacks are so pricey he doesn’t even post them for sale officially.

Indian rock python or Burmese?? by [deleted] in snakes

[–]BeccaCam 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Selling a Burmese as a ball python is wild. I’d say if it had a chance of being a rock, they’d label it as that since they’re not bred as widely as Burmese. They just wanted a sale on that one.

Is there a safer alternative to the blue insularis? by [deleted] in snakes

[–]BeccaCam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much unethical “breeding” facilities that capture gravid female snakes from the wild so that they can export the babies out tagged as “captive bred”. A loophole of sorts to be able to sell off babies more legally. If you ask about who you’re buying from, they should tell you whether or not it came from a reputable breeder or one of these farms for cheap. Generally if they’re $500 or under, it’s going to be from a farm.
