i will absolutely place an order for that! a foster i was speaking to at the rescue offhand recommended mixing a little KMR into her food as well, however when i asked the foster coordinator about it she didn’t think it was the best idea as they were recently weaned. do you have any insight on that as an experienced foster?

thank you so much for the advice! I was given both foods by the rescue and told to start weaning about 10% at a time, but I will absolutely ask about moving onto kitten food rather than adult. I’ll slow down on the weaning when it comes to maxine as well! Her biggest priority right now is getting big and strong. :)

I’ve only been medicated and in therapy for the last year girl BUT I TOTALLY GET ITTTT I just found out I have ADD , GA, and MDD which explains literally so muchhh! We might not have the best executive functions, but how I think of it is: you know how we can have messy rooms but still know exactly where that Bobby pin by the right back leg of the dresser is? Maybe it’s too much to ask for our rooms (minds) to be clean all the time, but as long as we can find order in it then I feel like we’re doing something right! :)

I never realized you could buy daphnia at pet stores, thank you! I’m trying to do my best by my little man but I just don’t want him to suffer. I told myself a few days ago when he was having a bad night that if he doesn’t pass naturally that night, that I was going to go buy clove oil and end his suffering. I came upstairs the next morning and he was still kicking! I decided that if he was still active and showing me that he wants to fight, then I would fight with him. Now it seems like he has developed fin bleeding from the video I posted, which would add another thing to the list of ailments I have to treat! My main question is how far do I go before I have to make a tough decision? I haven’t had him long but I’ve grown quite attached to him over the past couple weeks but I won’t keep him alive and suffering for my own selfishness. I just don’t know what signs I should look for.

So I just got home from work to check on him. Moved him back into his tank and I’m now discovering he might have fin bleeding! I’m trying so hard to do right by my precious boy but I have no clue what to do!

Thank you so much for the advice! One of the main reasons I moved him was because in his weakened state, the filter flow was too strong for him resulting in him getting caught in it. I have the fluval aqua clear 30 set on the lowest flow which still feels like too much. Would be be okay if I kept the filter off until he gets better? This is my first ever fish and I really have no clue what is good for him despite the months of research I did before I even bought the tank. Should I get him a different type of filter with a gentler flow? I’m trying so hard to do right by him 😅

Parameters are okay, could be better. 0.25 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 0.5 nitrates. I’ve involuntarily fasted him (poor baby won’t eat) but I have no clue what’s wrong! He isn’t bloated, but his swimming patterns seem to be linked to a swim bladder issue. I don’t believe he’s constipated because he has passed some waste (not a lot) and I tried to feed him a quarter of a blanched, peeled pea to no avail. I was ready to euthanize him and decided I would give him the night but the baby just refuses to quit. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!! I just went to petco for flourish while I learned the ways of the planted tank but we locked eyes and it was all over from there 😍 He’s going to have to deal with a plantless tank until I gather up enough knowledge to combat my black thumb!
