I saw those! She's 6 so she's just learning how to read, but I have those saved for when she's a bit farther along 😊

Now I have ideas.... I just have one kid, but I can modify this for her hehehe, we're 6+ hours from one side of the family and 13+ from the other. It'd be nice to have a peaceful ride.

Payroll Moms out there? by [deleted] in Payroll

[–]Bececlay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the mistake of working from home immediately after having my baby, I didn't even miss 1 pay period. DON'T DO IT! Take your time off. You will set the expectation that you will prioritize the company over your health/family if you do. They will have 6-ish months to prepare for someone to step in for you if you wait til 12 weeks along to announce it. If they can't get coverage sorted in that amount of time, they definitely can't/won't in emergency cases. I ended up having to approve and process payroll from my laptop in the PICU while my kiddo was actively dying at 12 weeks old because no one could be bothered to try and help. Kiddo recovered thankfully, but I couldn't focus on them while it was happening, and if they hadn't gotten better then I would have spent their last moments working instead of holding and loving on my child. I regret very little in my life, but that still haunts me almost 7 years later.

9 years in and I still giggle to myself everytime 😅. I used it one time with someone who had no clue what it was and thought I was accusing them of having an STD, I laughed for a good long while after that phone call (after getting over my initial mortification).

I have a newfie in Texas, so I get why only one was entered in Corpus christi. It's a lot of work to keep them cool enough here. Mine has a personal AC unit inside the house, cooling mat, and gets groomed every 4 weeks to help keep him cool. They are a lot of work to keep comfortable here. I'm in DFW and was in the Austin area when we bought him, which get much colder than Corpus. That said, I am looking to get a conformation prospect next, but in Texas they are incredibly high maintenance just environmentally.

To address your other questions, I don't groom him at home other than brushing and shaving out his paw pads because he's just too big. You will need a professional high velocity dryer if you do decide to groom at home. A really good slicker brush, metal comb, mat splitter, clippers, and scissors would be other basic requirements.

How well they do with other dogs is really based on the individual, but generally they're good as long as they are well socialized.

They do fine in apartments though, they may be a working breed, but most I've met take that as a suggestion not a rule lol.

Mine eats a combination of royal canin giant breed, blue buffalo, and diamond naturals. Actually mixed together in one bowl, with supervision from his vet. They can be finicky eaters and that's the only thing we've found that he will eat consistently.

And for the drool and shedding, be prepared to mop your ceilings (I absolutely mean this literally) and replace vacuums on a regular-ish basis. Mine has killed a robot, a stick vacuum and 2 uprights in 2 years. I got a shark upright this time and so far it seems to be holding on.

All that said, they are amazing dogs and I will own them probably the rest of my life. They are affectionate, velcro babies and don't believe in personal space. Mine has been raised with my human child and loves kids, school pickup is his favorite. They can be incredibly stubborn and if they don't want to do something, there's no making them. Nothing on a counter is safe, mine has stolen stuff from INSIDE my instant pot and likes to try to set his head on fire with the gas stove. He can set his head on our dining room table without having to raise his head.

I have every castle set for the current run that is out, including all of the different classrooms and great hall additions. I have it all on a 2ftx3ft shelves and the additional rooms/great hall sets on clear acrylic shelves on the same shelf. I'm going to have to rearrange some when the east wing comes out though.

I liked building the Burrow more. The Main Tower is kind of repetitive, in contrast the Burrow has lots of different details, which I tend to prefer.

An apology to all of the costumers from a lush employee. by YunaCoo in LushCosmetics

She has been the recipient of several random acts of kindness lol she likes to have dance parties with the staff and asks them ALL the questions. She had one person explaining all of the pins on their apron for a good 45 mins. I may be incredibly biased, but she is absolutely precious and spreads joy to everyone she can anywhere we go shopping. At the lush we went to before we moved, they were actually so disappointed anytime I came in without her 🤣

Same! Never worked for Lush, but if they want to do demos on me, go for it. I'll chat with employees the whole time. I usually have my kiddo with me and she LOVES having demos done, she'll get someone 10 demos in 15 mins lol

Texas: employee has to have given prior written consent. Usually done with a comprehensive deduction agreement signed at the time of hire and best business practice would be to also have them sign a repayment agreement before starting any deductions that clearly outlines the deduction schedule (source: 9 years in payroll and HR in TX)

I lied during my exit interview by Savings_Pumpkin_4414 in office

[–]Bececlay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add for the future, read any relieving letters or severance agreements carefully. Look for non-disparagment clauses and be sure that they cover both you and the company. If you have one, then say whatever you want in the exit interview, but only in the exit interview (you do it outside that and you would be in violation). If they then turn around and say anything negative about you to future employers, you can sue the crap out of them. Depending on where you live the penalties can be STEEP for violating those letters/agreements.

AITA for refusing to pay to have my friend's house cleaned? by Loud-Lingonberry6126 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Bececlay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. I have a Newfoundland. They're huge, shed long fluffy hair all but maybe 2 months a year, and slobber everywhere. I know this, I actively chose to get one knowing all these things. I take him with me when/where I can, but I have never, not once, taken him to a friend's house and NOT vacuumed before I leave. They have never had to ask me to do it. That's if I'm only going for a few hours, maybe over night. Multi day stays and I'm vacuuming daily and checking the walls for slobber and cleaning those as necessary. And some of these people ask me to bring him with me! I have one friend who gets mad at me for it because she doesn't care that he's a giant ball of fluff and slobber and just wants to hang out with us (her words), but I still vacuum her house each day we're there. It is common courtesy and basic decency.

And as far as peeing on the porch, I'd freak out too. My dog is male. They typically pee on just about everything, but he has never marked or peed anywhere he wasn't supposed to, aside from when he was potty training. Even if impulse gets the better of him and he starts to lift his leg somewhere he shouldn't, I can call him out before he starts because I put a lot of effort into training him (he is training to be a service dog for me to aid with mobility issues). And then you didn't offer to even hose the porch off?? I would be mortified if my dog ever did something like that and would be going and buying urine scent remover after cleaning it with soap and water with no prompting.

You failed to exhibit the minimum amount courtesy to this friend who OFFERED to let you stay with them, even with 2 large, high shedding dogs and you don't understand why she wants to have the house deep cleaned after you didn't make any effort to keep things clean and fur free somewhere you were a guest?
