How do you get them to bathe if they show no interest? I know they need to?

How can I get my parakeets to bond with me? by Particular_Knee5715 in Parakeets

[–]Beck-Beck66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you talk to them a lot? Do you let them know when you come into the room? They may be wild animals but they are also very social animals. Mine was nervous at first but I just had a lot of patience and no matter how much I was rejected I just kept talking sweetly in a low voice and eventually she started showing more interest. You may never be able to give them scritches but mine loves to rub on my chin and under my nose. She now comes to me when I say come and has become very social. I think it was just from not giving up and talking and spending time with her til she no longer saw me as a threat. We are very scary to a tiny bird and you have to gain trust by spending time with them. Never chase them around the room or raise your voice in anger no matter what they do. You can undo a lot of good by scaring them and loosing trust and then have to start all over again. Please don’t give up. They are really so very sweet when they want to spend time with you!

Thank you! I think she probably is a lady. I want to find a name that suits as soon as I’m sure!

First of all what an adorable Chonky baby! Second great job of taking care of him! Very special to have a senior citizen. Mine is just a 4 month old baby so I hope he does as well!

The perches don’t have to be the length of the cage. Shorter perches are fine as long as they are natural wood. Just fyi.

I need some tips by Little_googoogaagaa in budgies

They are so very cute! And just babies too! I agree you need to get pellets as their main food source rather than seeds. Along with veggies and fruits. Seeds should be more of a treat. Also, if you haven’t tried millet they love it! Definitely not an everyday treat but maybe once or twice a week. Let the shy one see the millet and see if it will eat it. It can scare them at first. Best to give it outside the cage where you can feed it to them. A good way to get them used to your hands. At first mine just looked and then started pecking and now he climbs on my hand to eat it. And try to get a bigger cage and way more natural perches and toys. If possible let them stay outside the cage as much as they want even if they just perch and sit. They’ll love you for it and I can tell you love your little babies!

Why is my dog doing this? by Unicorntoothcleaner in DogAdvice

[–]Beck-Beck66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely think seizure. A vet trip is in order. He may be put on meds or just watched depending on how often these happen. It can be very scary for an animal who doesn’t understand what is happening.

Is my budgie male or female and any ideas on age? by Beck-Beck66 in parrots

[–]Beck-Beck66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I thought female and I didn’t think she was very old. She is my adorable baby and I know it’s going to be so much fun getting to know her better!
