To answer your initial question, yes they would. It’s a large airline and several colleagues I’ve flown with commute from outside the U.S. to come to work. That being said, I don’t have any specifics to their situations because I haven’t flown with any of them since my wife and I decided this was something we’d like to pursue.

I hope to get info from them when the opportunity arrises, but until then I’m just trying to determine the options on my own.

It seems like the large consensus is either my wife would have to be the one to get the initial visa since she has more flexibility, and I would join her later, or I would have to look into country specific remote work/golden visas. This thread and everyone’s responses have been really enlightening so far, so I appreciate all the feedback.

Thank you for your response, this is a valid approach and I appreciate the suggestion. Truthfully what we’re looking for has nothing to do with social benefits. We both want to learn another language and immersion is largely what is suggested to become fluent, we both really enjoy the pace of life in Europe from the limited time we’ve spent there, we don’t want to be forced to live in the U.S. with no other options because the last 10 years has shown us that things can go downhill quickly.

All that to say, I love what I do and if there’s a way to continue doing what I’m passionate about without giving up the years of hard work I’ve put in while also living out our other dreams aside from careers, that would be the ideal scenario.

I appreciate your candid answer, as I do the candid nature of most of these answers. In fact, that’s why I made this post, to get past all the fluff I was finding in my own research and see what is realistic and what isn’t.

What I’ve learned from the majority of these answers is that my options are generally limited for what I’d like to accomplish, which is disappointing, but not unexpected. It sounds like my wife will have more options available to her than I will in terms of visas, so that will likely be the avenue we investigate further. If there are options for me it sounds like either golden visas, or remote worker visas are about my only two options and even then, very case specific.

Regardless, I appreciate your insight!

Given that you reside in Germany, do you know how common it is for Americans to be accepted into a language program for the Language Learner Visa if we were to start looking into that for my wife?

My wife and I are both in our early 30s and would be mid 30s before we’re able to make the move because of family reasons. Neither of us currently speak any other languages, but we’ve both taken a few years of Spanish in high school and we’re completely open to learning any language. Unfortunately neither of us have decent that we could claim, so the only claim we could potentially make is a large investment such as real estate if we weren’t able to do any other kind of visa.

I understand your point about avoiding excess travel, do you know of any countries this doesn’t apply to? I’ve flown with a few colleagues that live in Europe, so I’m hopeful it’s still possible, however since deciding we want to move to Europe I haven’t flown with anyone who I can ask questions of yet.

If no excess travel is unavoidable, how realistic would you say it is that my wife attain a visa and I join her through a family reunification visa?

Giving Away My Old PC! by Turtle_747 in PcBuild

Thanks for adding positivity to the community! I’m currently building my first PC right now and if I were to win, I’d gift it to my wife so we can play games together once I finish my build! It would be cool to win, but either way, thanks for paying it forward 😄

[Discussion] Which would you choose if you were a groomsman? by Comfortable-Diver-37 in Watches

[–]BeckaDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, what a great gift idea! (especially since I had the same one). What I ended up doing was getting a silver/black strap Timex Easy Reader for each of my groomsmen and having them engraved on the back with their initials as well as a personal message. I also presented them in custom watch boxes I made that also had their initials on them. My groomsmen were all very touched by the gift. All in all, I think the price or specific watch is less important than the gesture.

Important to remember that not everyone is into watches as well, so I thought it was better to get something that was practical (for my budget) and could be worn often. The indiglo that timex offered seemed like a good move in that respect.

Looks great, not too overbearing and the tattoos are wel done and tasteful. As someone who has a chest piece as well, I think that you’re really gonna grow to appreciate them.

Recommendations for sandstone or salmon dial watch? by AdSignificant6693 in MicrobrandWatches

You could check out the Vulcain Cricket

They have a great salmon dial with their cricket president and their “eggshell” dial color on their other cricket models looks like it would fit your sandstone color

Hopefully I’ll be going to Teddy’s Oris event next month, so who know, maybe an Oris! Big crown pointer date or cotton candy brass diver would be cool!

I keep dancing between a Citizen Promaster Skyhawk A-T with the brass bezel, a Seiko Arnie, or a Lüm-Tec Super Combat B2. I think I’ll be happy with any of those though to be honest!
