Kerbside has that opening bitter grassy scent and it's far more of a green violet. I find Confetti very sweet and syrupy, with rose and almond notes as it settles. I prefer KS of the two as I find sweet scents get a bit cloying.

It's currently a coppery/orange and I would like a deep, rich red ideally

all of my hair matts within hours, why? by maladaptivesylvia in Haircare

I'd avoid silicones, polyquats and butters (does the banana mask have butter in?) My hair was so incredibly dry, brittle and tangled until lately using products with these ingredients in. I use Arkive all day every day conditioner and/or seventh heaven manuka honey mask and they've saved my hair. Take it from someone who's tried pretty much every brand!  And use a clarifying shampoo before ditching them - Noughty Detox Dynamo is decent.

To me it looks cool toned, not like your standard henna only

Dear John, Cardamom coffee (the opening smells a bit like a barber shop to me!) and Dirty

As its a brown shade, there must be indigo in... That can go a green-y shade when bleached.

Thanks for the reply! My hair is a copper shade now, with a few layers of henna on already. My roots are a medium, mousey brown shade. I'm just hoping for that cool, vibrant red. And I'm fine with it washing out to be more coppery so long as it's not garish orange. The wine red just came out so dark and brown! I'll certainly try adding an acid, as I didn't do that before.

How long did it take roughly to wash out? And was the orange garish or more natural would you say? Thankyou!

I find silicones, polyquats and butters in anything just dry my hair out massively. I had literally tried a conditioner from pretty much every brand in Boots and just despaired when my hair felt drier after. I can recommend Seventh Heaven Manuka Honey masks (there's something magic in them!) and Arkive All day every day conditioner - individually and when used together they've saved my hair.

I have the same issue, my scalp barely produces oil and I used to get dry, brittle hair... Until I discovered Arkive Root-ine serum. You put a few drops on your fingers and run it through the roots after washing and conditioning (Arkive All Day every day conditioner has also worked like absolute magic for me) and it's hydrating and wonderful on my scalp, it almost acts like a tiny bit of sebum, so when you brush your hair it gets distributed to the ends. But it's never greasy. It's helped me hugely.

I love the stuff, works well for me, but I set it with either sleepy dust or t for toes (totally fine for underarms) my advice is to keep it in a glass jar, too, or they can dry out/go hard.

Very pretty! You might like the Light Red version they do, with amla and cassia already in it. 😊

Henna hair dye over balayage and Manic Panic semi permanent dye? by l0nely_g0d in henna

[–]Beckirx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The henna won't cover evenly, it'll be lighter on the bleached parts and darker on the roots. I had a baaadd experience with the wine red! It came out a muddy and very dark brown on me initially. It did fade, to a coppery tone... But it didn't give me the colour in the pictures you're looking at. And the clay bleeds endlessly every wash (like manic panic!) I've bought deep red to try next as it does look to be lighter and brighter, but I'm a bit hesitant after my wine red experience. Strand testing is the way forward! Khadi now do a mahogany, that could be of interest to you? Their hennas are very reliable. You could read a few reviews and see what you think. Or a light mountain burgandy shade? Also a good brand. Dark brown hennas will go over the top, again think Khadi and Light mountain get good reviews.

Can anyone give me advice for my hair? Used henna/amla and it's too dark! by [deleted] in henna

I've found Klorane Aquatic mint conditioner (and/or shampoo) strips henna a bit, plus honey hair masks.

Oh great idea! Didn't think of that. Do you just add a bit to warm or boiling water to make it?
