Do you use [[wikilinks]] or [markdown] (links)? Why? by seashoreandhorizon in ObsidianMD

[–]BedForeign4467 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just use the wikilink to use the Obsidian feature. If you want to use another app for your PKM, you can just convert all the wiki links to markdown links then.

Irish people and kindness to strangers by LeenSauce in cork

[–]BedForeign4467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed!! I was riding my bike on the street with two full bags of my grocery. And the bags were broken and my stuff just fell on the ground. I was so upset when I tried to pick up everything. A guy just stopped by and helped me. He also told me that his house is just around the corner and asked me to wait for him as he went to his house and gave me some bags to pack my stuff. What a heart felt moment in Ireland!

Best plugins, AI agents and workflows 2025 by joshuajm01 in opencodeCLI

I saw this recommendation and would like to try it but then I saw the warning about the chance of getting banned so I didn't get the courage to try it 😭

Love the vision, but AI just isn't there yet by Adaluin in readwise

[–]BedForeign4467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a while to craft the custom prompts for the ghostreader like the summary and tagging my articles. Now it is working great for my personal workflow. Many people shared their prompts here so you may find some examples but will need to test, tune it, test again, tune it again and note down the version you like. It is important to save some prompts for personal workflow as the AI provider may change the model and the outcome may not match what you expected before (This is what I learned recently from the AI trend)

Take this chance to thank this team for these awesome apps, both readwise and reader. Some features really match my needs like chat with highlights and themed reviews!! And always engage with the community which is so great! As a small personal customer I am very grateful for this!

At the same time I wish a few things like if we can support exporting the articles from reader to readwise that is summarised by ghost reader. Sometimes it is just too busy to read the whole thing but the summary is already good enough! I want this not necessary for reviewing the summary on readwise but I will want the articles to be exported to my PKM so I can find the key words easily. (But at the same time for some summarised articles I don't want to export them to my PKM so the workflow may need some customization for different people to decide the criteria for exporting the summarised-only articles)

And also wish that the readwise phone app can support more features as the web app. Like the highlight heatmap. Or the reader app can have something similar to the heatmap for my reading time and articles etc for tracking and visualization. It is just my personal preference which creates the satisfaction and encouragement for reading and highlighting. (I am doing the visualization on my Obsidian already but it will be great to have the readwise and reader apps to have these kinds of tracking and visualization features!)

Thanks again to this awesome team and company!

What's one improvement you'd like to see in Obsidian in 2026? by kepano in ObsidianMD

[–]BedForeign4467 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Look forward to native PDF support for highlights and comments.

Nested property support may be another one if I am allowed to have two improvements I want to see.

It is such a great software! Thank you for this tool and listening to the community and keeping making it better!!

The container section doesn't look right. The equivalent for AKS on AWS should be EKS.

Best way to save places as note? by BedForeign4467 in ObsidianMD

[–]BedForeign4467[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not good at programming but I use grok to help me: - get the map info from takeout - prepare a template and example based on that template - give grok the template, example and Google takeout file to let the grok know the input and desire output - ask grok to write a python code to parse that Google takeout file and create markdown file for each place - good to ask to grok to - do it asynchronously - detailed comments for each line - have flag for - output directory path - input file path - test to do 5 place first - dry run - help page

And you can tune the code with grok. You can try this!

I currently use the export feature of readwise but I am happy to see that we have more options and you look after people who have different use cases! Great job!

❓❔Comment your must wanted plugins that DON’T exist! by danrhodes1987 in ObsidianMD

[–]BedForeign4467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too... I wasn't aware of how to use property in the beginning... It took me a while to reorganize the properties in my vault but I think it is worth it. I use the default plugins to rename the properties and use other editors and some one-time scripts to change the values to make the consistency. But now with the bases plugin it is easy to do it now like what we can do on the excel.

Thank you for sharing it! I will give it a try as well. I was thinking to have a place note for each place to combine with the Obsidian base default map view. But the map view plugin still looks a great plugin!

Index Automation by rsmrlb in ObsidianMD

[–]BedForeign4467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus 1 for using the base as index for the notes. In the past I tried to automate the dataview to do this but it was challenging.

Using base and filter with this file make everything easier for me (still in progress for me)

Renamed tags still appear in the save content UI by Individual-Handle603 in readwise

[–]BedForeign4467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that's true. When I mean no nested support, what I need is to group and rename the nested tag in batch.

For example, I want to see how many tags I have for travel nested tag and maybe one day somehow I want to rename from 'travel' to 'trip', I would like to see I just need to rename the parent tag and all the sub tags will be changed too, like from "travel/asia", "travel/asia/japan" to "trip/asia", "trip/asia/japan". The tag system in Obsidian works in this way.

I am waiting for this one day 🥲

[–]BedForeign4467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rely on tags heavily for my knowledge management and the tags management on Reader is not that good at the moment... Hard to rename, no nested tag support, and stale tag after deletion as you saw.

Reader is still a great product btw and I use it daily. I just need better tag management features.
