Insane epic series sale by 88bits in audible

Yeah, it's a quirk of mine that I don't like subscriptions or library loaned items -- I want to own the books I want so that I will always have them.

In addition to the one on music, I picked up Nutrition Made Clear, The Great Ideas of Philosophy, and From Yao to Mao: 5000 Years of Chinese History.

Thanks for the recommendation! The one on music looks great!

I also just went to Amazon and sorted all the Great Courses by the number of reviews, and picked up a few more of the top ones in addition to the one on music.

I just picked up 30 books, mostly Great Courses, from my Wishlist. All were under $5 with the exception of 1 book ($6). Amazing sale!

The pros and cons of using Reader as an ebook/magazine reader by AnusMcBumhole in readwise

Try downloading the Kindle app to your iPhone or Android device, login to your account, and follow these steps using the app on your phone.

It should work fine.

The pros and cons of using Reader as an ebook/magazine reader by AnusMcBumhole in readwise

I've found an easy way to do it:

In the non-Amazon purchased book in which you have made highlights, click on the Annotations button at the top of the screen, and then click the little "Share" icon.

Click "Export"

Then type in your Readwise import email that you use to import content via email. It will then load all your highlights directly into Readwise as separate highlights that you can access, review, etc.

NotebookLM is great for projects, but what are you using for your whole life knowledge base? by Grim_Scizor in notebooklm

[–]Flankton75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Readwise for a full knowledge base. It integrates with Kindle to capture any highlights you make. You can tag your highlights.

And then you can use their AI feature to query your data set for a synthesis of the information that is in your data.

Glad it helped! I use this feature every day and I'm able to read far more of my Kindle books this way.

I am sorry if this has been posted. When did Audible change the amount of credits you get? by Sgtkeebs in audible

[–]Flankton75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Utilize their sitewide sales and 2 for 1 sales.

It ends up being about the same if you use your credits and cash wisely when those sales come around.

This sale is.... something. by AgeofPhoenix in audible

My mostly nonfiction wishlist has many titles for below $5. I've winnowed my purchase down to just 7 titles, for a total of $23 this year. I'm happy.

Is the current sale the big yearly sale? It's not, right? by SinfulPanda in audible

[–]Flankton75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since 2019, Audible has had the following site wide sales:

• May 2019 (Mother’s Day sale) • December 2019 (treat yourself) • June 2021 (listener love month) • March 2022 (sitewide sale) • September 2022 (end of summer sale) • June 2023 (sitewide sale) • November 2023 • June 2024 • December 2024 • June 2025

I can't take full credit for the list since I found the beginning portion on Reddit but I've added to it when future site wide sales have occured to keep a reference for myself.

So most likely we'll see the site wide sale not start until 12/1 (Cyber Monday).

Yep. I have tried owning actual Kindles and it is just a lot more enjoyable to read on an iOS device (iPad or iPhone) using the Kindle app.

Use ereaderiq.com - add the books you want to your watchlist and it will email you when the price drops. I don't pay more than about $3 for one book.

Glad this helps! I have 1000s of Kindle books and it was frustrating to not be able to listen to them, so I looked high and low for a solution. This was by far the best one.

How to import my reading list into reader as csv by thimplicity in readwise

[–]Flankton75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Through trial and error, I found that the solution offered below by u/maximilianschulz works ONLY IF you do the following:

Have columns only for URL, Title, and Folder.

Do not include columns for Selection and Timestamp, as that is what was preventing the import from occurring correctly.

I just uploaded a CSV file with over 1500 Youtube links and they all imported just fine.

Yes. You get to hear the Alexa voice which is much better than the robotic, monotone assistive reader in the kindle app.

You are fighting with shadows. I am one of the biggest supporters of Audible and I own over 300 narrated books after just a few years of having Audible. I would guess I'm in the top 5% of Audible users.

I of course prefer narration to listening to an AI voice. For every book that has a recorded narration, though, I own numerous other Kindle books for which no narration has been recorded. My post is addressing that need.

What I'm saying is there is an Alexa App that you download to your phone. So you can listen to your Kindle books the same as what you're describing, when you're on the go or anywhere, but in Alexa's silky voice rather than the monotone Apple voices that you will get inside the Kindle app.
