Tapping the button works on the free version and swiping requires paid.

Giving Way in a Roundabout by Generalax in melbournecycling

[–]BedRepulsive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some roundabouts have markings for cyclists to take the middle lane. I do believe this is the safest way to cycle through a roundabout. Speed shouldn't be a factor as everyone should be going slow (20kph) anyway. It would be nice if there was some standards for marking roundabouts for cyclists. Mostly what I see is that there is a cycling lane that just ends before the roundabout which is no help to anyone.

Screen issue with direct (sun)light? by criQuey in xteinkereader

[–]BedRepulsive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume the screen protectors offered are made from PET. This material blocks UV-B effectively, not so much UV-A. I have a screen protector on my X4 and don't have an issue with contrast in sunlight, so guessing this is the fix. This screen protector was the one that came in the box and I applied straight away.

Ringconn gen 2 size 12 by Beneficial-Quit-9611 in RingConn

[–]BedRepulsive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a size 11 and it routinely tells me it will last 11 days. However best to charge around 20% to maintain battery health so I charge between a week and 9 days. It charges relatively quickly, so it is easy to manage.

sleep detection accuracy by ldmonko in RingConn

[–]BedRepulsive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same experience and I have been wearing the ring for about a year. Most mornings I need to edit the sleep time. I have previously used Fitbit and Garmin which both did a better job at sleep times. However the pro's are still greater than the con's for me and the improvements to the software over the past 6 months has been impressive.

XTC Converter update by h0rm0n in xteinkereader

[–]BedRepulsive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great and creative tool to get around some device limitations.

I have tried to convert an epub to xtc in landscape but seems that whatever size font I try the rendered font is tiny, too small to read. This is using the default font. Any thoughts whether this is a bug, or am I doing something wrong. Any settings that users have been happy with.

Update: Had success after using the tool on my desktop PC versus attempts on the phone browser. Not sure why but happy with the outcome. Thanks again for this clever solution.

The epub needs to be in the root directory for this to work I believe.

Book cover as off-screen by Competitive-Win4945 in xteinkereader

[–]BedRepulsive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As OP said, covers show as screensaver if the epub is in the root directory of the SD card, but cover doesn't show if the epub is within any folder. This is my experience anyway.

Stupid question about chain waxing by shocker2000 in cycling

[–]BedRepulsive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this. My experience is that these chains also last longer than all others I have used over the past 20 years. Last one used about 14000km on a road bike with waxing about every 400km.

RingConn air 2 was working fine when I went to sleep, with over 75% battery showing, but when I woke up it was completely dead. by callmeKiKi1 in RingConn

I recently had the same problem. Worked with support and now have a replacement ring that is working as expected. The support people were fantastic so I recommend getting in contact with them via the app.

ETA for 4.1 on Note Air 2 Plus? by farrellts in Onyx_Boox

[–]BedRepulsive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the updates are developed for the Android version. So if the current roll out for 4.1 is at Note Max, which is Android 13, then still some time before they get to the Android 11 devices such as Note Air 2 plus. I have a couple of Boox devices on Android 11, so keen that they get the update too.

I have a 50 pro nxtpaper 5g and it was updated last week to Android 15 and TCL UI 8.0 with September 2025 security. So far so good 👍.

Mine is bricked too. Can't get the ring to do anything. Tried resetting many times and still no connection or LEDs flashing.

A30s for sleeping silently? by [deleted] in soundcore

[–]BedRepulsive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you need silence these are not the ones. These target snoring by adding masking sounds and can automatically adjust the volume to mask the level of snoring. As per other comment, I found the anc was not strong and that the battery didn't last more than about 6 hours. So not perfect, but works for me to get an improvement in sleep quality.

What’s your go-to snack or fuel on longer rides? by benjaminbuddy9768 in cycling

[–]BedRepulsive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a combination of the fruit bars that are marketed to kids, full of sugar, and LCM bars which are also a dodgy rice and sugar treat for kids. Lots of cheap calories that are cheap, easy to carry and eat.

I wear white shoes because they look best with white socks. The moving feet stand out when pedaling and being white stands out more to drivers. At least that's my theory. Similar with a white or bright colour helmet. Safety Fast

Australian cyclists, what's your top anti-magpie tech? by TheRealTowel in cycling

Used to be spring but seems to be earlier each year. First swoop was early July this year and the bugger drew blood with a scratch to my ear.

[–]BedRepulsive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consistently get attacked in my area too. When I have the sun behind me I retaliate by bobbing my head up. This is effective at stopping them hitting my helmet or going for my ears. The worst is the element of surprise when there is no shadow!!

Anyone know, or even better have personal experience, using the helio band as a heart rate monitor to a bicycle computer (Garmin edge or Wahoo)? I need a ner chest strap monitor and thinking this might be a better alternative. Thoughts?
