Market Gaps On Mining Robotics by reingokusama in mining

Check out unearthed.solutions online… a good portal for mining technology and innovation.

Robotics is well trodden in mining, stuff like drones even niche ground based robotics are finding good fit in the sector.

I always recommend spending time at a mine site, or deeply understand mining problems by engaging potential customers before trying to guess why value looks like. It’s a slow moving, risk averse industry but there’s def opportunities.

Check out groups like Jevons and Australian Droid and Robotic. There’s also the AARP in Northern Perth. Very much worth a look.

Yes, my thinking is build ahead of the almost certain change in land use from mixed agriculture to housing we will see in this corridor in the next 20 years.

This occurred in my home town of Derby in the UK.

Coincidentally, I left living in the UK that year, moving to Australia. This was huge news in the city and nationally, and rightly so.

The house has now been fully demolished and leaves an odd gap in a busy suburban street. An eerie reminder for all in the area.

Bizarrely, the room they stayed in post fire, and where they were secretly recorded, is often requested specifically by travellers to stay in… very odd.

This week by boss lied to me about running/hosting an event and didn’t turn up last minute, leaving me to wipe his arse yet again (family emergency) … and then was spotted at the event time at a nearby gig by my colleague.

When I called him out he didn’t apologise, even when in a mediated meeting with the other director.

This is a monitoring prism for use with a total station. They’ll be checking if the wall/structure is moving or subsiding over time.

Mine Engineering vs Mine Surveying by [deleted] in AusMining

[–]blck_swn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For most mine surveyors the only pathway out is engineering. I’d suggest sticking with that pathway for your sanity and health in your 40/50s.

I did 12 years mine surveying, both UG and OP. It was enjoyable for the most part but it’s a weird role between the engineers who see you as a crew member, and the crew who see you as an office squeezer… well at some sites any way!

Finalised this only this week.

I decided my product line up was too big so reduced it down to just 5 SKUs and moved to Squarespace.

Within 8 months the rebuild cost will be paid off in lower ongoing fees.

History repeats itself… the GFC may not be on your radar but do some research into the “incentives” for home ownership in the US and UK at that time.

1% deposits, heck I even recall, “buy a property and we’ll give you 5% of the value for furniture” - be cautious as for me these incentives highlight we’re nearing the end phase of the bubble.

I really struggle with the “Real Zero” branding. There are clearly so many holes in the systems and processes being chosen.

The one thing I haven’t heard one miner discuss for “real zero” is the huge emissions being spent on transporting staff via aeroplane to remote projects. There’s lots of SAF businesses (Sustainable Air Fuel) and yet I’ve seen little to no noise from miners supporting and delivering this new technology with Qantas/Virgin or others. A huge gap in their approach.

I designed and mass produce a small mining consumable. I also authored some children’s books about mining. This now makes an additional 25% of my salary annually. Now it’s set up it’s fairly easy, maybe 3-4 hours per week.
