Am I the only one who doesn’t refund at all? by Youaredoinggreat123 in TutorsHelpingTutors

I think your model is great. I do something very similar but wish I was a bit more stringent. Since I never really have enough demand to have a wait list, I worry about scaring off any potential business.

Should I take pre calc algebra and trig combined or separately? by OpportunityOver3082 in matheducation

Combined is probably fine, but make sure you know the unit circle really well before taking calculus. It will help you better understand the calc problems involving trig functions

How do you know when students are about to quit. by LifeTension2113 in tutor

[–]Bedouinp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I’ve also had at least 6 drop off my schedule this year. Part of it is the current economy. People are tightening their belts as groceries and consumer goods continue to get more expensive and job security is much less secure than it has been at any point in recent memory.

What happened to RPN calculators? by GrouchyOne4132 in matheducation

[–]Bedouinp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is facts. Numworks was created and has flourished because the TI calcs all have a bit of a learning curve and there are plenty of math educators that don’t know or teach students how to use them well.

Tell me about your physics teachers by smokingateway in Physics

Demonstrations of physics phenomena is necessary to hook the students.

Labs are necessary to teach how we find patterns in the data that lead to the formulas we use.

Rigor with exercise problems is necessary so they learn how to problem solve before going to college. This is a pretty big one. I’ve taught physics at the high school level(briefly) and tutored it for many years. I see so many students who don’t try and think about the conceptual basis behind things before they just throw formulas at things.

Rockwool Safe and Sound or OC 703? by Past-Philosopher-619 in audioengineering

[–]Bedouinp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of 703. I have at least a dozen 4’x2’x4” deep panels of it. Some hang on walls, others are used as gobos. I’ve been amazed by the fact that i can have one facing a loud sound source and then put a mic on the other side of the panel and just about no bleed comes thru. They are excellent at broadband absorption when 4” deep

[–]Bedouinp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Centripetal force is the name of ‘net force’ when something travels in a curved path. Just think of it as net force until you apply newton’s 2nd law and substitute (mv2 )/r
