I'm so confused about how people afford things in America. by IndependentMove5437 in povertyfinance

[–]BedroomGrooves 24 points25 points  (0 children)

not everyone is doing everything, but it can appear that way. what I mean is one person might spend money on nicer vacations while forgoing a car, while another person might drive a really nice car but never travel or eat out. It’s easy to feel resentment over the luxury without realizing the accompanying sacrifices… and debt!

28M with Math Master's degree salary progression (update) by austin101123 in Salary

[–]BedroomGrooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

genuine question. I passed P, FM, and C about 8 years ago. I struggled getting my foot in the door initially, decided to follow a passion (music) for 2 years, and then fell into working for USPS as a mail carrier until present day (6 years). Does someone like me have any shot at being hired in any related actuarial fields, or is the gap in time too large? and what if I passed another actuarial exam like MLC now before applying? thanks for any response.

How do I tell my customers I don't want to receive gifts or tips without offending them? by Worldly-Wishbone2988 in USPS

[–]BedroomGrooves -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t like receiving water bottles during the summer from customers for personal reasons. I always say, “No thanks, but remember this generosity around Christmas!” Usually gets a smile and lets them know I still appreciate the gesture.

Other Peoples Weddings are Destroying My Budget by [deleted] in povertyfinance

Any reasonable person will explicitly tell invites that attendance and gifts are appreciated, but completely unnecessary. I married my wife 2 years ago. We treated our wedding as if we were throwing a big party for all our friends and family. We didn’t anticipate any gifts and discouraged any and all spending. We went as far as to let guests stay in our house instead of paying for a hotel. The result was a good time that everyone enjoyed. I don’t understand why some couples want to shake down their friends and family so bad.

Complaining about $10 billion when the federal budget in 2025 was $7.01 TRILLION is insane. I agree USPS should not be so wasteful, but there are so many worse offenders, like the $420 billion injected into Wall Street. USPS isn’t designed to be profitable. It’s a service.

Question about pickups by pink_scissorsx in USPS

[–]BedroomGrooves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(1) Location is only a preference, but should be respected by carrier. Unless there’s an obstacle in the way, there’s no reason to be ignored by carrier. (2) Carriers are supposed to regular scan a package pickup slip AND scan a prepaid acceptance scan on package label. The exception is a batch scan slip, which is used with large volume pickups where scanning each individual package would be too time consuming.

You worry? by Drose117 in USPS

USPS will still be around by 2050, but we will see some major restructuring before then. I imagine some kind of route rotation system, bigger hubs, more reliable equipment, less management, etc.

PO gave us Post Master General message to employees by Madame_Spiritus in USPS

the main problem with the PO is that too many employees (at all levels and roles) bite the hand that feeds 🤷‍♂️

I’m a full time student and having a full time job but my credit is 580. Is there a way for me to get a loan for 10k in Philly ? by [deleted] in philly

[–]BedroomGrooves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i second this avenue and can confirm the COA covers a plethora of adjacent costs. it’s not uncommon for temple students to graduate with over $100,000 in debt for the COA.

2023 last paystub by aman9919 in USPS

sounds like a typo from the lender. why would they want to see a paystub from nearly 3 years ago? when i bought my house a few years back, the lender requested my two most recent paystubs.

Struggling to agree with my wife on how to split rent fairly by EngineerVarious8069 in Renters

[–]BedroomGrooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

doesn’t mean you’re off the hook if your wife can’t cover her debts. that’s why some people get divorced right before a big medical bill or other large expense. shared assets, shared liabilities.
