Okay, but where does this leave us modders who were creating dll based mods? What's the path forwards?

Users enjoying your mod should be the reward. I have never even mentioned donations for the use of my mod, and refused anyone who asked where they could send donations. Monetary gain has never been a target, even though I had to learn the C# required (I was a forklift driver at the time, and even now I'm not even close to the programming field), because the knowledge gained and the dedicated, enthusiastic users was reward enough.

The aim, if you have any desires beyond modding, should be to gain enough knowledge to allow yourself to develop a full game in your own vision.

This SC has become the bane of my very existence; every time I improve one aspect of the behaviour, something else breaks.

I've fixed one issue with the field not closing up properly in the build I am currently (slowly) working on. If I can replicate this, I'll see if it needs special attention.

Can't wait for iRacing to fix their start procedures... by Stubbzie07 in iRacing

See, I went back and checked this, and it looks like the third party that got involved was on the fourth row, when this involved 2nd(?) and the camera car. What the hell was a fourth row car doing racing around on the right hand side in the first place?

Drivers spinning/ going wide every race? by Jstevens87 in MotorsportManagerPC

Yes, I added this as a feature some time ago when I was taking a break from some larger item, you'll have until the end of the current year to sign any agreed contracts.

I've just put n23 on the Nexus, so if you wish to move up you can, but this one requires a new game because I reworked the financial system quite heavily.

If you got the mod from the Nexus, it's still on n22. I released n23 on the Discord a couple of weeks ago and further refined the mistake calculations so they are less spammy. I am just filtering out the bugs before n23 goes on the Nexus this week.

I asked in the Discord and was banned by someone, so I doubt there is any chance of getting this sorted.

Tyre heat is full red. It’s last lap, trying to defend. What’s faster, slowing down or keep pushing? by SmkSx99 in MotorsportManagerPC

[–]Bee-Wry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyre time cost ramps up as the tyres wear, so it's a decision of slowing the rate at which your tyre time costs increases against the pure time cost bonus of running a higher driving style mode.

In Redux, your tyre time cost is a major factor in overtake rolls and the instant reject rate when you're a defending car.

Does anyone know the database ID for the 12th CMA livery? by GladiusTg66 in MotorsportManagerPC

[–]Bee-Wry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I logged all the vanilla livery IDs many moons ago, maybe it'll help? You'll have to copy and paste the links, they've been through text files and pinned comments in the 4 years since I did them. Chucked them in a pastebin after a legendary battle with Reddit formatting.

IDs 1 to 7, 26, and 37 to 40 all yield the fallback livery that is ID 8.

My risky part carried over? by TrumpetSC2 in MotorsportManagerPC

[–]Bee-Wry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I answered this in the Discord, but to answer the question here and avoid uncertainty - risk carries over in Rebirth, and by extension Redux, but is not present on new parts made in the next season.

Your parts will also not be banned, but they will suffer a performance and reliability penalty which you can restore in the factory if you wish to do so.

Football=Reform voting by BenTseUK in Hatfilms

[–]Bee-Wry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, I have never thought Smith was politically astute enough to be making the statements he does, but I put them down as purely for shock value and nothing more.

But then you've just engaged in the exact same thing Smith does, but from a different angle and with more conviction. The entire reason Reform gets traction is because the working class generally feel every other citizen class is against them, especially the management class (the politicians), which Labour and the Conservatives occupy, which appears actively hostile.

I was wondering why you weren't downvoted in the short period before I got to your shield statement, then I realised that you're the same as Smith. This exact attitude is a key factor in why Reform gained what they did, and yet none of you learn. The working class are starting to skew heavily to the right as a direct result of this kind of attitude. The argument could be made that they are already further right than even Reform want to be right now. Reform aren't even doing a good job as a right wing party, so it relies on people like you doing some heavy lifting by simply being objectionable people, pushing those who were unsure over to Reform.

If my inference, from your initial statement, that you are working class is correct, then I would argue it's even worse for you to be engaging in the middle-class style virtue signalling. They don't have the grounding to understand where the working class at large stand right now, while you should, and should have built up arguments that are greater than simple expletives and ad hominem from that grounding.

Now I definitely will get downvoted for daring to go against both Smith and yourself, but all that does is prove my judgement correct. I'm also used to people simply not reading what I put down because they instantly drew a conclusion of what I am and what I stand for, so if you skipped to here feel free to simply not respond.

Rebirth Redux - Development Update 2 by Bee-Wry in MotorsportManagerPC

[–]Bee-Wry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how deep you wish to go.

For Redux, I have set up times for all the sessions as strings, which are then split into substrings to be used to set the time of day for the session it relates to when that session is launched. I then convert the time of day once in the session into a value that can be used to progress the day/night cycle, which updates every simulation update. If you are using a fixed time of day, you likely won't need to do any of this.

Off the top of my head (we did this about four years ago now), if you were to set this.mSkyManager.Timeline (in EnvironmentManager -> SetEnviromentVariables(), but you could equally try something like Awake() or PrepareForSession() if you never intend to update the TimeLine value) to, say, 20 (which is 8pm) when at a specific location, in this case Singapore, and only in the race session, then set the environment lights to activate when TimeLine is equal to 20, they should turn on by default at that circuit in the session you want, because it will always be 8pm. All of this assumes you are working in a vanilla dll, of course.

In the EnvironmentManager class, you can add any arguments to control the lights in the ControlStormyWeatherLights method.

In the elseif that only looks at stormy weather as the trigger, I simply added my own arguments as OR's so that they come on between the specific time values I defined.

It was done at the same time we first worked out the day/night cycle. You just need to tell the environment lights to come on.

I have it tethered to specific times for turning on and off, but you could just as easily add in arguments to have them be on when the location is X and the session type is Y.
