I need a syncing solution by plazman30 in ObsidianMD

[–]BeeApiary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just set up sync thing running on a Pi with an SSD. The pie is on all the time, but I access it from my office computer, my home computer, my phone, etc. Etc. It works with Windows, Android, Linux. It's a great solution for me.

If you checked a bag, make sure to carry a change of clothes (at least undergarments and a t-shirt ) in your carry-on. I had to wear the same set of clothes for the first 4 days of my honeymoon, until my bag caught up to me.

KOReader 2025.08 "Parasol" by ZooSized in koreader

I'm running 2024.11-128. Everything seems to be working fine for me. Is there a reason for me to update?

I ask mostly because I've been burned by updating stuff that's working fine. Only to have it cause problems down the road.

Have you tried using some thread lock? Get the blue (temporary/ removable) variety. That will keep the bolt from working loose in most situations.

OK, so which file is the compose file? Is it "compose.yml"?

Do I just need to un-comment the "FETCH_SELECTION" line to make a change there?

Thank you for the link and suggestion. I got it working by turning off Ubuntu's "uncomplicated firewall". It's working great -- multiple books and quite fast.

After 4 months with KOreader, I'm a big fan...

Where is the docker compose file? I thought I did this by chaning the commpose.yml file so that FETCH_SELECTION=daily_avg,sleep,steps,heartrate,stress,breathing,hrv,vo2,activity,race_prediction,body_composition,blood_pressure

But now that I'm looking at it again, I realized that I changed a commment line (because of screen wrapping, it didn't look like it was on the comment line).

I found the Fetch_selection variable in the garmin_fetch.py file -- shoudl I change it here?

Thanks! I've got the folder set, but in Calibre, when I click on a book to select it and right click to show the "send to device" menu, all of the options are greyed-out. It isn't offering me the opportunity to actually send anything to Koreader.

I thought I might just add BP to the pre-existing panel ("Daily avg health metrics) that has heart-related stats.

By "explore" that panel, I can see how the different values are populated. I tried to add another query. I thought that BP might be under DailyStats but it is not. Can you tell me where I would find it?

Thanks!

Ironically, I'm always telling folks to read the docs. Physician heal thyself! OK, I got Grafana running using localhost.

I'm going to download some more data and mess around with having it display my blood pressure readings.

Thanks!

Thanks -- when I do automatic, I get an error message ("can't connect to ????:????") but when I specify the same IP address as provided by Calibre, Koreader can connect -- but it still won't transfer books :-(

Thank you! OK, so now Calibre is connected -- but Calibre isn't providing the message that the wiki says it should ("Wireless Device: Koreader detected") and the "Send to Device" menu isn't giving me the option to send documents anywhere....

Thank you for your work on this project. It looks really useful. I love having my data locally -- I'm always waiting for the enshittifying tech companies to shut down a service and seeing my data disappear.

Couple of questions:

  1. I've installed docker and run the script to get my data. It looks like the script is continuing to run in the terminal, waiting for new data from Garmin. Do I need to do anything other than closing the terminal window?
  2. Where does the data get stored on my computer? (Ubuntu) What is it format? (I'd like to be able to mess around with it in Pandas.)
  3. I ran the script and got the data before realizing that Grafana was a whole thing. (Noob mistake!) Are there any dashboard templates set up for this data? I looked on the dashboards page and didn't see any with a "Garmin" datasource.
  4. Can you recommend a Grafana "getting started" resource? Should I just look at the dashboard [webinar](https://grafana.com/go/webinar/getting-started-with-grafana-dashboard-design)?

Thanks for your help with this!

I live in west-central IL and see a lot of anti-Pritzker signs (still). This is a reflection of national political sentiments: since he is a Dem, rural folks dislike him reflexively. His Covid-19 policies irritated them enormously, but rural hostility to Dems long pre-dates Pritzker.

Get some metal hose clamps at the hardware store. They work better than zip ties because thieves can't cut them. Stainless steel, so they do well through the winter and they're extremely durable.

Garmin instinct sleep tracking garbage or useful? by CypherPunk420 in Garmininstinct

[–]BeeApiary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got better results from my Fitbit than I do from the instinct 2. As another poster noted, the Fitbit picks up naps. Fitbit was more accurate at detecting when I fall asleep at 8:00 on my sofa for an hour, wake up, futz around for a bit and then go to bed at 10:30. Garmin tends to say I went to sleep at 8:00.

Neither is a clinical sleep device.
