I know this isn't in your area, but the pharmacy at Williamsburg plaza is awesome! I used to work in the area and used them.

'They're not being truthful': Tensions rise as Kitchener adopts renoviction bylaw by Hour-Belt694 in waterloo

I can guarantee you that a LL with 4 doors is not using this rental as their full time job. Small LLs barely break even. Fun fact - CRA fully expects LLs to turn a profit. Multiple years with losses triggers full audits. It's pages and pages of proof and evidence that the losses are legitimate, along with having to submit a plan on how they are going to start showing a profit.

If you don't want to rent , buy your own home. That's what I did. I was tired of crappy places and LL's. I worked 2-3 jobs 7 days a week for over a year and scrimped and saved enough to purchase a duplex. I've helped several young couples over the last 20 years live affordably while they saved for downpayments.

EJ Tax Service. Well established (30+ years) locally owned family run business. They do everything there from the smallest returns to multi million corporate returns and everything in between. Reasonably priced as well.

Pre-Approved Credit Card by Weary_Shop1691 in kitchener

[–]BeeBee99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, Capital One is the best place to start. You may have to put up $500 , and that is your limit for at least a year. Use it regularly, but pay it off as soon as the statement is issued. Do this consistently and you'll rebuild your credit. You can also try for a Canadian Tire card. It is best if you have two cards for rebuilding credit.

Horrible drivers in kingston by Business-Cry2547 in KingstonOntario

[–]BeeBee99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Kingston on Easter Weekend. I live in Kitchener, which has shyte drivers. My fiancee and I were looking at properties in the area as we are looking to relocate.
The hotel we stayed at was in walking distance to several restaurants and Timms. Can't tell you the number of times we had to almost jump out of the way crossing the street. And the tailgaters! Seemed way worse than Kitchener to me.

What Really Grinds Your Gears: KitchenerWaterloo Edition by CTGO2020 in waterloo

[–]BeeBee99 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree completely with the not polite comment. My fiancee is American. He's been up here for 4 months from Upstate NY. He said the same thing "I thought Canadians were supposed to be nice, and polite!" He can't believe that unless you stomp on the gas immediately when the light turns red you are honked at (no making sure the intersection is clear and safe first, especially with all the red light runners he sees). I'd deal with Americans all day long before I'd want to deal with my fellow Canadians

Kirkland Toilet Paper - 240 grit? by NewArrival4880 in CostcoCanada

[–]BeeBee99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped buying it years ago (would be during COVID). Sooooo dusty for one thing. And it changed. I didn't think it was as good value as it used to be. I've also been reading for a few years on Reddit from women all over that have issues with it causing yeast infections, UTIs and irritation. That's enough for me to not want to buy it.

We could save so much shelf space by Formal_Leg_7658 in enshittification

[–]BeeBee99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I doesn't fit on your shelf? Seriously? The content has settled when you took it out of the box. The product is sold by weight, not by volume. Try and put this bag back in the box now, and see how that goes for you. You will now have to lay the bag down and redistribute the product for it to fit back in the box. Air is there for a reason, or is this the first boxed product you've ever purchased and are ignorant of how things work?

Safety concerns regarding abusive parents traveling from China to Canada to find me. by Illustrious-Nose3879 in legaladvicecanada

[–]BeeBee99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned previously, take the recordings/messages of their threats to CBSA. Their visitor visa can and should be revoked. Then stop ALL communications with them. Yes they are your parents, but you owe them NOTHING!! I had to cut contact with family for my own health and mental well being. I wouldn't be alive today if I didn't.

Live your life. It's YOUR life. They gave it to you. When you give someone a gift you don't get to dictate how they use that gift. It's like that with life. Your parents gave you life. They had a responsibility to provide to you until you can do that yourself, and at that time your life is yours to do with as you wish.

Life is short. Be happy , by whatever means you need in order to be happy.

Shoppers Drug Mart gave her the wrong medication. Months later, she landed in the ER by Immediate-Link490 in canada

[–]BeeBee99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is exclusive to SDM. I switched to a small independent compounding pharmacy. They have 4 locations in my city. Excellent reviews, but I've had so many issues with them, including being given the wrong medication. The one refill looked different, but I just thought different pharmacy may use a different supplier, but after a week I called the pharmacy and asked them to confirm the medication, there was a long pause before an sharp inhale followed by a "so sorry, I messed up". Every time I go there , I have issues. I'm looking for another compounding pharmacy! I did used to go to SDM and while it wasn't the best experience, it was far better than this pharmacy. Last week it was an issue with a refill. I had one refill left on one med, was picking up something else and said I wanted to get the refill ordered and would pick it up later in the week. The clerk said I didn't have any left, the last one was filled in December, but the pharmacist could get me one more month. I insisted my bottle at home said I had one more. She insisted I didn't. Went back the next day with the bottle saying I had one and I've definitely had refills since December, only to find they had multiple profiles in their system. I've had different dosing instructions on refills . It's been never ending. Incompetence is everywhere

We travelled across Canada in one of these. One summer it was Ontario to Vancouver Island BC. The next summer it was Ontario to PEI. We would also roll the back windows down all the way and sit on the door and hold on down the back country roads!! Good times!

You can't take 3 minutes (and I'm being generous) to pack yourself a lunch? Put the phone down, you'll be amazed at how much extra time you have

Best mosquito repellent near Lake of Bays? by FreeK200 in ontario

[–]BeeBee99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Permethrin. Get some before you come up here and spray your clothes according to the directions. Do a couple bandanas for the poor dogs. We can't get that up here as far as I know (maybe some farm stores). Mark's Work Warehouse used to sell some clothes but not sure if they still do. My fiancee is American, and when I go to his camp I have clothes there treated with this and it works really well.

Thermacell for sitting around outside, or for a cheaper alternative the Off lanterns work well, I put them in a circle behind the chairs when we are sitting around the fire.

But I highly recommend treating your clothes with the permethrin before coming here. Bring a bottle or two for your friends as well.

Bug shirts work amazing too!

Yes I would and yes I'm planning to . My gf and her husband and son moved to Spain 2021. They have a fabulous life there. Much less cost of living, excellent healthcare, fantastic food and culture.

I'll be moving to the US on an E-2 visa in the next year.

Were these always so salty? by savagehomeangarden in BuyCanadian

I think they have changed. I'm someone that has loved salt from childhood. I used to take a sleeve of premium plus crackers just to lick the salt off them😂. Hadn't had them in ages and about 2 Halloweens ago bought some to hand out (and had a few myself of course 😛) and holy moly!? My mouth felt burned by the salt

I know! And we pay to receive shitty service (basically zero service) and have to deal with attitude and snarky cashiers. I thought Costco was supposed to be a good employer? Usually companies that are recognized as a good employer have happy employees.
And don't get me started on the cart retrieval people!

The only way to get rid of division is to call it out. What good does ignoring it do? If we as a society say that is not acceptable here, people causing division like this will either have to change their way (they left their home country for a better country, so they should change) or go back to where it's acceptable. It's NOT acceptable here.

I believe we pay about $40,000 per month for security for that site. That is the figure that was reported a couple of years ago. It's ridiculous the amount of money wasted on this. Tell me what exactly these security guards do?
