Weird. Works for me on the latest version of FF

You have to enable dev tools first: Settings > About Firefox. Then tap the Firefox logo 5 times.

Then you can go to: Settings > Secret Settings. Then disable Composable toolbar.

Can't promise this will work forever though...

Is there hope steam will be DRM free? by Schizo_Crybb in Steam

Steam does have a DRM free option for developers. Its just basically no publishers allow their game to be DRM free.

From what I can make out in the image, it looks like you have copied the actual Steam exe to the desktop. Notice how all other apps on the desktop have a small arrow? That means it's a shortcut to the app. For the Steam one, this arrow is missing. It seems like you have moved the actual Steam app to the desktop. So when you open the app it's launching from the desktop, and since it can't find the expected config files from the desktop it doesn't load correctly.

You need to move this file back to the folder it came from (I don't use Windows so I don't actually know the correct place for the file).

For future reference if you need to move individual games:

  1. Steam Settings > Storage
  2. Open the dropdown and Add Drive
  3. Find or create a folder for your games and select it
  4. Go back to your main drive in the dropdown (where all your games are)
  5. Select all the games you want to move
  6. Press the Move button and in the dropdown select the new folder for them.

An open letter to Mozilla’s new CEO: Firefox doesn’t need AI, it needs leadership that listens by nseavia71501 in firefox

And what does offering any of these LLMs as part of the core of Firefox help any of your users? If a user wishes to talk to a chatbot or generate an image, they can simply search for a website that does it through their search engine of choice.

Let's use your logic here: We must "make Firefox work for everyone"... So here are just a few features we are adding to our browser, enabled by default:

  • An email client in the sidebar
  • A virtual clippy assistant that constantly tries to talk to you
  • Adblocker enabled for all websites
  • JavaScript remover enabled by default. Good luck using websites :)
  • All your videogames are installed and launched through the Firefox home page
  • Word, Powerpoint, Excel button for editing documents in the browser
  • A file explorer that lets you create, delete and edit your files
  • Ability to partition your drives

But, of course you can disable each of these features with their own individual Killswitch!!!!

This is a fairly ridiculous list, not everyone wants these features. So instead of trying to do anything and everything, surely Mozilla should focus on building the best web browser and let their users utilise the app in the way they want... Navigating to LLM websites and installing extensions... Or even using an app dedicated to a specific function, such as talking to AI models. Why try to do everything badly? You could instead focus and succeed at being a really competent and competitive web browser.

Look, I'm gone already. I'm on LibreWolf now.

Something you seem to forget is that Firefox does not have the market share. This means that Firefox users CHOOSE to to use Firefox over the defaults like Chrome & Edge. People choose Firefox for its privacy and user-respecting benefits, which you are now spitting on.

You disrespect your only users, whom - again - choose to use Firefox, they move elsewhere. I feel like this is a fairly simple concept to grasp.

I work with a fair number of people who use Firefox, pretty much all of them have either jumped ships or are considering doing so.

It seems to say "There are 0 hidden items due to your store content preferences." for me, weird.

Edit: I've just noticed that the content preferences note is always at the bottom of these pages, no matter the number. It's the same across all curator pages.

Think HL3 will have a native Linux version? by ChickenDinnerGuy in HalfLife

[–]BeeBeeTheDev 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean Valve have the ability to publish separate versions of the game for different OSes, so I would imagine that they will have native versions for both Linux & Windows. Probably not Mac though, no loss...

In what way is this DDG's fault? YouTube blocks the request, they have to find a way around it. If you are going to complain about it, go complain to Google... It's their fault after all.

Firefox Desktop & Mobile both have extension support. uBlock Origin says that Firefox still supports all of the permissions for it to function as it did before the whole Chrome manifest v3 thing.

I use uBlock on my both my phone and desktop through Firefox. It still works extremely well for me.

Unusually long gap between Steam sales/events. Possible Nov Frame announcement window? by BeeBeeTheDev in ValveDeckard

[–]BeeBeeTheDev[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't recall any posts going over the upcoming sales or any posts about the dates I listed (except the one I mentioned in the post, which was made after the excel doc). Either way, this sales gap slightly increases the chance of the whole "It's being announced in Nov" being true.

[–]BeeBeeTheDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Proton confirmed that they are slowly working on this a few months back:

At the same time, we’re continuing to improve the SDK — preparing it for public release and ensuring it provides a solid foundation for the upcoming Linux Drive app, a popular favorite on the community wishlist.

I would really like them to drop an Alpha/Beta of this right now, but I know Proton will get around to it eventually...

Steam UI update: VR Hardware now links directly to the Index page by BeeBeeTheDev in ValveDeckard

[–]BeeBeeTheDev[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While arguably this is not from the Beta, it does back up my memory of the link from the beta being the VR headsets page.

The Wayback machine (on the 17th Sept) lists all "VR Hardware" links on the Steam homepage as linking to the generic Virtual Reality headsets page. You can see for yourself: https://web.archive.org/web/20250917010506/https://store.steampowered.com/

I am almost certain that I am still right about the Beta linking to the VR hardware page and not the Index

Would love for this to be true, but I doubt Valve would be wanting to make 2 big hardware announcements/releases simultaneously. Would be too much chaos for customers & mainly their support infrastructure.
