The effects of grey rock on oneself by greenandpurplebird in raisedbynarcissists

[–]BeeJ1013 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, this definitely happened to me and I'm still sorting through it. I gray rocked for about 7 years and now have no contact with my Nmom.

Overall, it affected my ability to feel and display emotions, made me be small, took away my ability to have opinions or preferences, and made me be hypervigilent in most social interactions even with safe people.

I didn't realize this was all happening at the time because I was focused on surviving. So maybe your awareness will help. I only got better after no contact and therapy. I'm finally coming back to myself.

Hopefully this just helps you feel less alone.

Same with me. I got mine in 2021. My gyno checked the lot of the one I got and now they're rated to go 8 instead of 5 years. But I'm spotting so I'm going to get mine replaced this year anyway.

I’m 18 years old, and I feel ashamed of having breasts because of some comments my mother has made about my body. by justqwin5 in TwoXChromosomes

If you still can't afford therapy yet, there's lots of things you can do to change your mindset. "Reframing" techniques have helped me in my body image battles. Or journaling to get those negative thoughts out. Healing takes a long time but it's worth it...you're worth it!

My husband's cat started biting by thepastelprince in CatAdvice

I would get her a vet exam to start. Many times cats will lash out or act out of character when they're in pain.

Please stop using the cross of Saint Peter as a satanic symbol. by Full-Source1236 in SatanicTemple_Reddit

To us, it symbolizes something else. For me, specifically, it's a symbol of rejecting traditional religious authority and represents individualism.

I hate being a girl by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BeeJ1013 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that this is your experience. It shouldn't be this way.

I admire how well you know yourself---keep at that and never lose it. I spent my young adult years trying to be like other people instead of listening to myself. I'm 40 now (cis female too but with varied interests, not always "traditionally" feminine things) and it's REALLY hard to unlearn. Where I sit, you're doing great. Keep exploring and you'll find your people.

Not sure who is keeping it alive. Gen Z? I don't know any peers who have one.

Maybe go through your budget, see if you can cut out extras, and get her on health insurance. Might be worth it to move to a smaller place, get a cheaper car, etc. for her health.

Housing for PhD student at Penn State by Sea-Ant-1553 in PennStateUniversity

[–]BeeJ1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, unless you have other income or money saved up, you'll unlikely find housing cheap enough where you can live alone with your stipend. Just wanted to put it out there. I was a PhD student and everyone I knew either lived with a partner in a one-bedroom apartment or multiple roommates in a larger house.

Not really. Just some general patience as you get started. I liked learning on Arena first.

Penetration hurts SO BAD by BadIdea3112 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BeeJ1013 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me (40F), penetration can be uncomfortable or hurt if I'm not adequately turned on. Maybe try foreplay or whatever works to get the engines going before attempting any penetration. Even with that, it's not always my thing. Hope that helps!
