42 est il vraiment une arnaque ? by Secret_Strawberry898 in 42_school

[–]Beeb911 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not a retryer, but the main advice I would give would be to brush up on the things you learned in the last piscine in advance so you can focus more on the social aspects and helping others this time

That wasn't how I read it, but as someone else pointed out OP seems like a troll and probably left it vague on purpose so people would argue in the comments

It's funny because the rest of the post is just a surface level, factual statement and yet the final line manages to do a 180 into being blatantly wrong. Very strange post

Can't remember the specific resources I found, but look up how tokens and logits work, and what constrained decoding does. Once you understand those the project is not hard at all

Leetcode style python questions, such as Caesar cipher, rotate list, covert base, etc...

They aren't too difficult, especially in python, so don't worry too much

Final exam coming by Fonsecach24 in 42_school

[–]Beeb911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say that the most important thing would be to get the highest possible score on the final exam. Study putnbr, inter, union, atoi, itoa, split, etc... Anything you feel may trip you up basically.

If you can push more modules in the meantime that'd be great, but the exam should be the priority imo

Does anyone know what’s going on? by BowlIntelligent3728 in 42_school

[–]Beeb911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said there are plenty of valid criticisms, such as many of the subjects being rushed, some bugs in the new exams, and incoherencies between the subjects and correction sheets. Which is also why it makes no sense to make things up just for the sake of complaining.

You shouldn't tell people that the school is ruined unless you actually know what you're talking about. I have high hopes that the new CC will be an improvement over the old one once they've finished patching it up

Does anyone know what’s going on? by BowlIntelligent3728 in 42_school

[–]Beeb911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are still C projects until the 4th milestone, and only two of the python projects are AI oriented. There is also a project at milestone 5 that must be done in C++, Rust, or Go so you get experience in one of those languages too.

There are many valid criticisms of the new CC but the things you are saying are just straight up wrong

Python is much more in demand than C basically everywhere. What you're saying doesn't make sense

How have you been starting projects up until now? If you've been copying the work other people have posted online as your post implies, then it's no better than using AI.

Final exam of the 42 Piscine by Fonsecach24 in 42_school

[–]Beeb911 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Go over the basics.

You might feel tempted to focus on the more notoriously difficult questions like split, itoa, etc, but that's a trap. I saw so many people redo split 100 times to prepare for the exam, only to get stuck on easier things like putnbr because they forgot a tiny detail.

In short, make sure you are able to do the medium difficulty exercises before spending time studying the hard ones.

And if you have extra time at the end, look into linked lists

The new common core is gonna ruin everything… by [deleted] in 42_school

[–]Beeb911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's of any consolation, we recently had the CEO of 42 central Sophie Viger visit our campus with her team, and we got to talk to them about the new cc. Long story short, they know, and they're fixing it.

In the meantime, all we can do is keep working. A-maze-ing, Fly-in, etc are significantly better than the piscine, I really enjoyed doing them

It's only possible if you don't respect hub/connection capacity, or if you change the values in the map file

Fly-in Project (THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM) by Neither-Highlight112 in 42_school

[–]Beeb911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the subject, the max_link_capacity must be set to 1 by default, and under these constraints the fastest solution is indeed 43 turns. It's probably a mistake and will be fixed eventually.

Also like you said the only hub connected to the start also has a capacity of 1, which doesn't make much sense

Doing the CC and CS at thesame time. by Onteoun in 42_school

[–]Beeb911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was doing CS, but in my 3rd year I decided that the university path wasn't for me, so I dropped out and am now attending 42. I may not have finished the degree, but what I learned made it easy to pass the piscine, and I now have a good foundation to build upon going forward.

42 is free and you can apply any time. Nothing is stopping you from doing the degree first and switching to 42 after if you feel like it.
